Brian, I would keep that gun since you are looking for a .30 cal. With the velocities you are getting, it will be minimal gains to go to a magnum. Plus a lot more inexpensive

Correct. During Barrel breakin the velocity with 180 Berger Elite bullets was high. They should have called this chamber a 30-06+P in stead of the 30-06 Serengeti. This is a super sweet deal. Over half off a full Barreled action. Add a stock and shoot.

What was the velocity with the 180 elite hunters?

I shot 3 rounds over the magneto v3 at the end of seasoning the Barrel.
Average fps was 2930 es 12.
That was not a hot load.

I think that would work.

Would be a great stock for this Barreled action.
Might need to do a light sanding in the bolthandle cut. As a Remington 700 bolt is slightly swept back. Probably a 5 minute or less job for ya.
May not need any sanding at all.
