I was just looking at picking up a 30-06 this weekend to fill a gap in the collection. Of all the rifle I've owned, I've never had one. I was always bucking it, not wanting a rifle everyone has. Now I sit with a bunch of cartridges that everyone has and I don't have an '06! This just maybe my next build. Thanks for posting your build Muddy. I really like it and the idea.

That's smokin for an 06. Sure be watching for the reports of your range experience on that one.

I load the 180HH for son's 30-06 700ADL 22" barrel and is stupid accurate as factory rifle. Load maxed out around 2925 W760 so 4" extra barrel will easily get into 3's. Add in Serengeti reamer effect and I think it's possible to touch 3100. My experience with Hammers is usually greater than standard 25fps/inch of barrel.

I was lucky to have a friend that knows Serengeti reamers quite well and has one he tweaked that was used for this build. Very fortunate to have his knowledge.

That is truly a beautiful rifle! Enjoy cooking up a load for it, definitely one of those things that'll be getting a ton of attention at the range and hunt camp!

I currently have 3 30-06. Still probably my favorite cartridge. It has done everything I have asked it to for many years. Taken several elk, deer ( mulies and whitetails), antelope, coyote, and with ultralight loads, grouse, rabbits, turkeys, bobcat, and squirrels (reds, grays, and tiny chickarees). I'm certain I have left something out of my list.
Working on a slightly abused Kimber Montana for a mountain rifle now.

Same! Have -06 build coming, on a Husqvarna action and Wildcat stock, Timney trigger. Have settled on the traditional calibres. My 270 has been a workhorse - moose, elk, deer, sheep, bear. All have fallen. But I have been wanting something for the bigger critters, where ammo/reloading won't break the bank!

So after some discussions with @bamban on Serengeti reamers, I finally got my 06 finished off. Edit: my gunsmith/friend knows Serengeti reamer designs quite well so the rifle has unique throat. Will bet it shoots lights out.

It's intended for 180HH and 168HHT's. Prob everything else I have on shelf.

So basically spin off of my 270TH to maximize efficiency and performance of standard cartridges instead of latest and greatest.

Circa 74. 30-06 launching 180 Silvertips. Cape Lisburne, the resort where there is a woman behind every tree. At least that's what my uncle told me when he sent me there for a year.

50 years later still loving the cartridge that won the big wars.

BTW @skipglo put onto the new Field Stock from MDT and once I saw it and read features, decided to try it. Comes AICS ready (no magazine), adjustable cheekpiece, adjustable butt stock and standard aluminum bedding block. I bought MDT polymer mags

MDT has made this stock available for many different actions too. Price more than reasonable @ $299 IMO.

Once again, somebody spends my money off LRH!

It was just short range, about 200 paces. Besides having a safety buddy, we were required to carry weapons when going out. Rifles would either have irons or optics with tip-off mounts. I opted for irons. Nanuqs roam the area especially down at the shores of the Arctic Ocean.

That's a sweet build. I pretty much did what you did but I AI my Inherited Brothers 30-06. Serengeti reamer with an AI flare. 26" Proof research 1-10 tw and a Terminator T3 on the end.
I am still working on fireforming my Lapua brass. It will be interesting to hear more of your range sessions as you get going.
