280AI barrel length

Both mine are 26 inchers. 168 grain runs 3015, 180 about 2875. My 7mag was only a little faster with either weight.

What load are you using? I am currently building a 280ai with 26" barrel and want to load 160-168 gr. bullets. Leaning toward 7828ssc due to great accuracy and performance in my standard .280s.
I would be thrilled if I can eke out 3000+ fps with the 160 Accubond.

Retumbo, loads are a little over "book max" but my COAL is quite a bit longer than SAAMI.

I'm using N560 in a 25" barrel and getting 3010 with the Berger 168.

I did 24" with break is 26" total. I went with carry over FPS. I build mine light weight for a rifle I can carry all day, weighs around 7lbs bare. It very nice rifle but I did sacrifice some speed, I'm getting 2830 with 175 Berger EH.

The AI real shines in a 26in barrel to reach its full potential but you have to decide which is more important to you
