Does anyone have load data for a 280 AI with a 168 Berger? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I agree with L.Sherm, RL23 is proving to be an excellent powder in the .280 Ackley. I shoot a .284, few grains less capacity, and I'm having no problem getting 2850 with a 175gr Berger in a 26" barrel.

If you can find RL-26, it's worked great in my .280AI from 150-168 grain bullets.

My VLD load is:
Brux 1-9, 22" suppressed
Nosler Brass
CCI-BR2
168 VLD kissing lands
60.5 grains RL-26 at 2875 fps, very accurate

That's the bullet I shoot in mine and I use Retumbo with 63.5 gns and a fed210 match. Sub half inch groups @2875 with a 26 inch barrel. If it's speed you want RL26 will push this to over 3000 but I like the tiny groups I get with Retumbo and the temp stability. You can get 65 of retumbo in the case with a drop tube but I have had several I built shoot really good with 63.5.

I'm running H4831SC and getting subMOA groups, but wanted a little more fps. I tried RL23, got better speed and very promising groups. But any load gave me better speed also consistently gave a hard bolt and/or sticking bolt. I found the H4831 be roughly 150fps slower but no extraction issues of any kind. So it H4831 for now, looking for a some else.

I've had good luck w/ 58g RE-22, CCI BR2, fire formed R-P 280 Rem. brass at .030 off the lands. Ave. 2976 fps, SD-8 & ES-21. .599 MOA. I used this load for LR competitions out to 1K. Bartlein 26", worked over Rem 700 action.
As always, approach ANYONE'S suggested load (mine included) with caution.

Rl22 is a very good powder for a lot of cartridges and I've used 20 pounds of the stuff in the past but the speed change with temperature is a deal breaker for me. Rl23 is much better in that regard but for most of my loading anymore I try to stick with hodgden extreme powders. It just plain works great. It's not the powder for speed racer but it gets to within about 100 fps of any other powder in the cartridges I use. For me accuracy trumps speed and part of the accuracy comes from my loads staying the same speed over different temps. I have found the 280ai to be very easy to load for and 2850 to 2900 is easily achieved with several powders pushing the berger 168vld.
