28 Nosler with 195s and and IMR 8133

I've tested my 28 Nosler in the 72 to 77 grain range with 8133 & 195s so I would start a little lower than that range. None of my loads were jammed.

Retumbo and 8133 run about the same charge weight using a 180 Berger according to Hodgdon website. If you have 195 load data for Retumbo I would use the minimum for Retumbo for starting 8133.

I did find my old data from 2016 that I received from Berger, they have the following for the 195gr and using Retumbo as 75.0gr minimum and max load at 78.8gr., with a COAL of 3.499" in a 26" barrel.

That's along the lines I was thinking, seems 8133 is a tad slower on a burn rate chart as well as comparing some data for other similar capacity charges. So, the minimum is typically a little higher than Retumbo, that's what I was thinking of starting at 74-76gr and go from there.

Thought about using Ramshot LRT?
Maybe another option for you.
I didn't use it the 28 but did test in 7RBH (338 Norma mag/ 7mm neck improved). Good velocities. The ES was a larger spread than I liked but I'm sure some tinkering could bring it down some.
Just a option

Well I've finally started to work on this haven't gotten anywhere yet. Just loaded up ladder to see what I can get for a node. Hopefully I can get out to shoot tomorrow and get an idea of velocities and where I'll see pressure. Turns out I found a bunch of Retumbo last year too, so I'm trying that for the 195s and trying the 8133 with the 177gr HHs. We'll see what happens and I'll keep posting results. I'm assuming I won't get to pressure with the HHs, but you never know. I think I might actually skip to the 75-76gr and start there.

I'm curious to see your results with 8133, why did you decide against it for the 195's? I'm having my 28 rebarreled and was going to use 8133 to do the break in so I didn't have to use any of my unicorn powders.

I didn't necessarily decide against it. When I was taking to Steve at Hammer Bullets, I asked him what powder to use and he said N570, I laughed because I haven't seen any of that in over a year. I told him I had Retumbo and 8133, he told me to try the 8133. Since I also have 4lbs of Retumbo I figured I'd try that with the 195s and the 8133 with the HHs. So it's very possible that I load another ladder to see if one performs better than the other. I just want to get to 3k FPS and have good accuracy.
