28 nosler powder recommendations

I have 8lbs of Retumbo so going to run with that. If I could find N570 I would try that as well, but I expect to find a good load with Retumbo.

I am running 195 EOL and 78g n570 in my 28 Nosler with a 26" barre. l am getting roughly 3030 fps depending on the ambient. I'm not done tuning the load yet but the accuracy seems to hang in there even with the ambient temperature changes. I have found the n570 to be pretty temp sensitive but pretty predicable if you build a good temp table.

For 195gr RL33 was the best for accuracy and velocity, H1000 sucked on velocity and accuracy was good, never tried Retumbo with the 195's. For the 180 Berger I have Retumbo that provided good accuracy and velocity, started testing with RL33 and found a good load, but pulled bullets and loaded with IMR 8133 to see if that will work, have not had the chance to verify anything yet, hopefully in the next week. All the powders I have tested and the ones I have been reading that are good is RL33, VV570, Retumbo, H1000, wait and see on IMR 8133.

Would like to hear of any reports on using H8133 powder in a 28 Nosler with bullets in the 175 to 195 weight range.

Had high hopes for IMR 8133 in my 28 Nosler. To date have only been able to get consistent 1" 5 shot groups. Up to 84 gr just over 3100 FPS with 180 Berger Hybrids but without pressure signs in 24" Brux barrel chambered for 195 Berger. Next: Retumbo? H1000? N570? Have considered weight and then bearing surface sorting but sig work and only end up with small number of "perfect" bullets per 100. Any suggestions appreciated.

Just came across this thread....here is where I ended up for hunting season:

180 Hybrids, 26" Fierce 28 Nosler, 80.6 / 8133, Nosler brass, CCI-250, getting 3125 avg with 0.7 moa at 200 yds, es ~12. Barrel is at 270 rounds down the tube and cleaned religiously.

Fwiw, shot a bighorn sheep in Montana with the 180 hybrid at 325 yards. DRT. BUT....no exit wound. Looked like a bomb went off inside the chest cavity.

Thanks, good to hear you're having good results with 8133. Been wanting to try some myself in my 28.
