We tested polymer cases when I was in the Corps, failed miserably

277 on left, 6.5 Creed on right.
Over 3k out of a 16 inch barrel with the 3 piece ammo is easily attainable.

Do you know if the steel head version has a plastic case?
Is it possible to reload the case that has a steel head?

Wierd, I figured they'd use a coke bottle to hold back 70k+psi.

The main reason I like the rifle/ammo combination is a 16 inch barrel sending a 140 3k. I have a pile of guns that will push that bullet over 3k, none that can safely do it with that barrel length. Makes for a fantastic backcountry pack gun.

I agree on the hot flash throat burning thing,,, I could run my 6.5 A-square hotter then I am,,, but I backed it down by 1 1/2 to 2 grains less than max that slows flash burn down,,, prolong brass life,,, and it still has enough bling to harvest critters and hit iron gongs beyond the 1000 meter mark...

I'm definitely running in the low CUP of pressure with the 140gr bullets @ 2880 ft-per seconds using H1000 or SSC Hodgdon 4831...

Yes,,, Over loading hot flash """could""" put a end to barrel life fast...

My winter and off season loads are much tammer,,, I use 3 of the tightest nodes below max for the good stuff,,, the lowest charge is very close to my 308 Winchester 178gr flight path,,, Ha.

Good practic at hitting targets on the Windy days...

Thanks for the up date on the new cartridge,,, hopefully it has the same bolt face of the 308/ 30/06... I'd give something like a try if it is...

steel case bottom will let you load to much higher pressures. Should allow for faster burning power and magnum speed out of shorter barrels

At high pressures, how do you not get gas leaks at the head/body junction?

I wonder if the head is cup shaped and partially inside or outside the plastic?
Otherwise, it does seem like it would separate.

No plastic, please trust me on this. Zero. There is a 3rd piece that holds the brass and stainless together on the inside. I've watched it formed together and there is no plastic.
