Well, it's looking like I'm gonna start getting into some offseason predator hunting. I live in Clovis NM where it's regularly windy enough to really effect the 17hmr, .204, and 223 that I already have. As I was thinking about maybe getting a 243 for those windy days, I had the idea to load one of my. .270s with light barnes bullets for the windy days. I have a very lightweight custom .270win (7.1 lbs scoped) that isn't much fun to shoot with 130 gr loads. I though a 95 or 110 grain load might be a great predator round as well as a great med game load that wouldn't kill as bad with recoil. I was curious what you guys thought. Thanks.

Get a 243. Its good for anything from antelope down to prairie dogs.
Though I want a .243, I have 3 .270wins so I figured this way it would get used more and do everything a 243 can and more while making that light rifle more fun to shoot.

FWIW,
I shot Sierra 90 grain offerings ahead of IMR 4895 to get it right at 3400 FPS at the muzzle.
Used that load for varmints and yotes for over 30 years. Idaho is as windy as NM and I did't miss many critters under a little over 400 yards. Beyond that I couldn't hit anything with fur on it.
I started with 110 grain offerings but after awhile I noticed I was getting misses when shooting position wasn't quite right. Went to the 90 grain offerings and became a very happy shooter.
The nifty thing was that the 100 yards the 90 grain printed precisely 0.50 MOA left of the 130s I was shooting. Darn convenient.

Get one of the 3 .270's you have and get it re-barreled. Mucho better on prairie dogs and such and still can be loaded for deer is need be

Tell us about your two other 270 s this is where a heavy bbl settles the rifle and shooter to make a better long range hit ,Remington chambered the Sendero in 270 also, just saying . But years before they did I had my 270 bdl rebarreled to a #7 conture Douglas bbl 26 inch ss 1/10 twist ,years before the cut bbl makers showed up .regards and shoot straight ,jjmp ps nothing wrong with a heavy bbl 243 less recoil equals better shootinglightbulb

Your 270 will have all that you need. 110s will buck the wind better. 4MOA at 500 yards in 10mph. The 95's will probably be 4.5MOA ish.
Both start with ~2800lb at the muzzle. At 500 yards the 110s will have 1000lb of punch, the 95's will degrade to ~850. Still not bad.
A 243 is going to throw 95s 500fps slower.
Shoot your 270.
