270 Win no pass through

Shot 2 deer, both quartering, one towards and one away..., Both thru one shoulder...neither bullet (Winchester power pt 130gr) passed through, so no blood trail on either one...that said, neither deer went very far...but it's a little alarming when you can't find any signs of a hit... I'm sure a broadside shot would be better, but sometimes you gotta take what you get... haven't butchered them yet to check for more detail...I can't complain about the accuracy of this load with the gun though... that's not an issue...

Welp. Get them butchered and lets see the pics. Accurate load and deer died quick, not a bad start.

PP are a basic cup and core bullet with exposed lead. That design will most likely start expanding right at contact. Though they are a hunting bullet I'd consider them pretty frangible. You'll be able to tell us for sure after butchering. Dead deer, so cool beans!

I have several bullets from .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, shot into deer from ~80 to 135 yards that didn't exit. It's not uncommon.

Soft cup and core bullets won't always exit, they are designed to fragment inside the animal and cause mass trauma to vitals.

This is more common when hitting the shoulder on impact. When shot behind the shoulder you are more likely to get and exit wound.
