270 win. Compressed loads?

You can expect to get 3000 to 3050 fos using a 130 Grn. Ballistic tips over 59.5 Grns of H4831SC from a 24 inch barrel!! I saw a loss in accuracy as I went to 59.9. Grns !! I am completely happy with the 59.5 Grn load for. Deer! A good balance of accuracy and high velocity and. Energy!! The accuracy load for that rifle with that bullet is 59.2 Grns of H4831SC! I Do not expect my 270 Win to shoot at the velocity of my 270 Weatherby Mag or even the 270 WSM! I would not damage my rifle in an attempt to try and make that happen! If the 270 Win with a hot load , isn't enough for the game your hunting , I would suggest you think about adding a flat shooting mag to your hunting arsenal!! I like my 270 Weatherby Mag for deer , at ranges beyond the 270 Win design limits!

You will get better velocity with H4831SC and it will probably be a full case. RL23 is another good option for the 140s and 150s. I do not use H4350 with 140s, in my 22" Win Featherweight. H4350 and RL16 work really well with the 130s but the accuracy which is primary in my opinion and velocity from my rifle is better with H4831SC with the 140s.
You got that right, oh and a 24 inch barrel helps. 140 Berger VLD Hunting, 56.6 gr H4831SC, COAL 3.245, 24 inch Lilja = 2950fpsMV and accurate as heck. This load almost fills the case and is according to Hornady under MAX. By the time you spend $$$ burning powder, bullets, barrel life etc you could spend that money to get a premium 24 inch barrel.

Light compression is ok with most stick powders. The size and shape has an effect on powder burn rates.

The Hodgdon site has a "C" when loads are compressed.

Follow good load data.
