270 Shooters still exist????

I've always wondered how the Barnes 130 would do on Elk. Can you expand on your experience with that? I used the 130 SST on a cow elk once and it came apart inside the shoulder. Still got the cow, but I was left wishing for a better bullet.
if you want to use copper mono look up Hammer bullets. Steve is a sponsor here. I use his 126 hammer hunter in my 270

I have a custom I have 270 Weatherby Mark V that was built a couple years back that is an amazing gun it shoots excellent groups. I shoot 140gr accubonds. I've used it for elk and deer and has worked very effective.

270 is just a great caliber! Recently I bought a Thompson center compass 270 but haven't really had the time to do much with it yet.:(

Building a .270 WSM on a stiller here pretty soon. Like 270, but for some unknown reason I hate long actions. Unless it's a tikka (longish action)

Just wanted to see how many guys are shooting 270s on game and what favorite loads are.

Mike
I have a Ruger model 77 in .270 and shoot the factory Hornady Superformance 140 gr SST and it is DEADLY. It is a real sweet shooter and my favorite go-to flesh killer. Bought it used at a gun show, changed out the optics and I could not be happier.

plus 1 for the 270 win... my favorite long range hunting rig...winchester model 70 classic stainless boss. i have shot my longest deer kill at 701 yrds with factory 130gr hornady sst...it is stupid accurate .all factory with cheesy plastic stock that flexes and factory ammo i have shot 7/8" 11/8" and 7/8" at 500 yrds.... kinda rattles me because i have much more solid and expensive rigs that have a hard time doing that ar 200 yrds. much less 500 yrds... i truly got lucky owning a mid 90s model 70.
