I recently joined the local rifle range and had a chance to go test some loads this morning with the 338 RUM and the new 267 gr HHT. This was also the first time I had tried my TBAC 338 on the RUM - to say it was awesome is an understatement.
I have a ton of RL-23 sitting around on my shelves, so I went with it over my standard H-1000. I used Nosler load data for their 265 gr ABLR to get me in the ball park.
Compontents:
- 267 gr HHT
- New ADG brass
- Fed 215 primer
- RL-23
CBTO: 3.144" (0.020" off lands) - I'd have to seat them a bit deeper to run as a repeater, so I'll just single load these this season.
All are 4 shot groups at 100 yards. I took my Labradar out for the first time today and missed shots towards the end of the session, but had at least one reading on each charge. Accuracy was ridiculously good straight out of the gate and continued until the last charge. This may have been shooting fatigue, or just coming out of a node. Either way, I'm happy with the results on paper. ES and SD weren't incredibly impressive, but I'm not sure if I'll really chase things. I'll be loading up some more at 82 and 82.5 gr to shoot at distance and run over the chronograph.
81.0 gr
Avg Vel: 2855
ES: 22
SD: 10
81.5 gr
Avg Vel: 2876
ES: 36
