140 nosler partition, woodleigh,135 federal, put it where it needs to be and it will die.
I've been looking for someone who is using 129 ablr in a 1:9 twist .264WM. Can you tell me what kind of accuracy you are getting and any load specs that are working gor you?
thanks
agree on this point, esp the 130 AB. The 140 Gamekings play well, too. That is the problem with the 6.5 that are way over bore. They build pressure before you utilize all the case capacity. 26 Nosler is an example of a case that can't reach its potential, poor design IMO. As other said you will have a tough time finding a 140 gr long range style bullet that will work in a 1/9 twist. Look into 129 LRAB, 130 AB or a partition. They will stabile and kill elk. I've killed 3 elk with the 129 LRAB.
A good barnes ttsx 130 or heavier will do the job. My daughter put a 130 ttsx through both shoulders on a big zebra stallion, he made it about 30 feet. Both lungs and his heart trashed.Just like the title says is it a good choice. I know there are better bigger options but this is my rifle I am most familiar with.

6.5 CM is a good round. I bought my 260 REM back in 1997. I reload so availability of ammo is of no concern. If I did not reload then I would suggest the 6.5 CM over the 260 REM Just do to availability of factory ammo.6.5 Creedmoor vs. .264 Win. Mag. - Caliber Battle
When the 6.5 Creedmoor hit the shelves in 2007, it was met with the same mixture of acclaim and contempt that welcomes all new cartridges. Now, like it or not, the 6.5 CM is here to stay. It’s cemented the 6.5mm as a legitimate, effective caliber for U.S. hunters, and it’s by far the most popular...www.themeateater.com
LoL!! Why not.Been thinking of a project, maybe a 264/300 RUM on a 30" bull barrel burning something just faster than charcoal (50BMG powder) in that huge case would be fun.
You'd like the 6.5 AM. Based on the 338 RUM, it's a screamer.Been thinking of a project, maybe a 264/300 RUM on a 30" bull barrel burning something just faster than charcoal (50BMG powder) in that huge case would be fun. Might be more acceptable if labeled as a 6.5/300 RUM Ha!
