264 Win Mag 156 Berger EOL

From my experience in several 264win rifles. With a reamer properly machined for the 156g and a 26", or longer, barrel a guy can very safely see 3,050 and expect approximately 40 ft/s for every additional inch of barrel. Retumbo, Norma 217, IMR 8133 are all well known performers with the heavies in 264win. I can't personally speak to R-26 or any of the VV powders, but there are plenty of positive reports for those as well.
I've had a couple of 264win reamers cut over the years, most recently for the 160g Matrix.

Trnelson,
I have the drawing of one of your reamers. It states the print is for 150-155 grain hybrids. I am hoping to compare it to Elk Hunter 338's drawing to see how they compare. Then I can get a reamer and try the 156 Berger. I hope this is still in line with the original post.

Those that are shooting the 156 Berger do you think there would be any advantage to going with a 1-7 1/2 twist over the 1-8?

Solid. That's a good print. I had another made for the 160g.

So it looks like I am the only one running 8133 with the 156's..I tried all the others and it was simply the best in my rifle.. I get 3070 and find that it gets the job done.. Try it. ;)

Just got my 264 built and was going to load 8133 for 156. Mind saying what load you like?

Hi,
Just bumping this thread.
I was just wondering if anyone could advise me on freebore needed for a reamer set up for Berger 153-156 .
Also what neck diameter would be required for Peterson 7mm Rem mag brass necked to 264.

OK, how are they working on paper and in the field.
I'm still working on my .264 Rem LH 700.
I sent away for a Wilson barrel,1-8 26" today, and glad to see more people shooting .264's.

I have a 264 WM with a 7.5" twist, 26" Krieger barrel, blueprinted SS Rem. 700 action, standard SAAMI chamber. I get 3,035 fps from the 156 EOL using RL-26. I designed the rifle for that bullet, hence the twist rate. Under 0.5 MOA.

Mine shoots tiny one hole groups in the .1-.2 range and I've only shot one animal so far and it ended up being a spine shot so I can't say how it would have performed otherwise. This is at 3350fps from my 264 Win Mag Improved.
