260 rem

I was also looking at some of the howa's but never owned one. Also I like how this thread went from a 260 load to a new rifle for me. I need friends like this that can talk to my wife.

Howa makes good rifles. Japanese barrels seem to perform very well. That's too bad about NY. My wife and I were both saying how glad we are that we don't live in NY just the other night when a concealed permit issue came up. Come out west when you call it good! People still carry guns in their trucks just 20 or so miles from where I live on a daily basis... And when I go out hunting yotes... If I go into the local Merc with my pistol on my hip, no one really even bats an eye. It's not common to do that, but it's not something anyone worries about either. I love it.

I would think the 120TSX or the 100TTSX from the 260 rem would probably be better than alot of the bullets mentioned. My AR15 223 rem made massive holes in big Canadian coyotes my 308 model 77 made smaller exits holes with the 150 TSX.

The 120 TSX I shoot deer with here in VA with my 260 rem doesn't make massive exits. It will do less damage than a .243 win and an NBT. Velocity is going to be the determining factor and the animals capacity to absorb the energy.

Not comparing deer to yotes but I would give it a try if it shoots before I bought another rifle.

Good luck and shoot straight

Bob

Is there any fur friendly load/bullets for this caliber. I don't think barns 120 ttsx would be that great.
I've used the 140 Sierra GameKing with great success in three 6.5's. Even when pushed out of my 6.5/300 WSM with impacts @3,000 fps these bullets passes through with no pelt damage.

Here's one I dropped this past November from the 6.5WSM and the 140 SGK, small hole in the front chest exited out 1/2 way through the body on the off side with another small pencil sized hole. Dropped in his tracks and never moved a muscle.
