Guys I'm looking for suggestions on what works best for you for the 260. I have both hornady 143 grain eld-x and some berger 140 grain projectiles. Before I go spend a fortune on powders I was wondering what works best for you. If there is already a thread on this I didn't see it. thanks for any assistance.

I don't shoot a .260, but I have been hearing a lot of guys getting amazing performance with RL26 in the .260 with the heavier bullets.

I get top performance in my 260 Ack with IMR 4831..I would think it would work equally well in the standard 260..The plus is that it is a plentiful powder and easy to find..

With 120'S and 140's H4831SC has been fantastic in several 260 rems here. Its the first powder I try with the 260.

Good luck and shoot straight

Bob

My Tikka T3 likes RL22 with the 143 ELD-x. I use a 270 magazine and installed
a long action bolt stop on my Tikka. I use 45.5 grains and get 2700 fps MV.
The overall length with the ELD-x's is 2.93 (.03 off the lands). .5 MOA @ 100yds.
For whatever reason, both my Tikka's (have a 270 Win also) like RL-22 with
heavier bullets.

Good luck

Wow !!! That would be awesome. ( i'm pretty new at this long range or medium long-range shooting even)

About 550 yards is the longest for me so far.

Thanks for all the info guys.

45 grains h4831sc
Fed 210m
Alpha brass
143 eldx .025 off the lands
1/2 to 3/4 inch 3 shot groups at 200 yards consistently
Rifle is a 6.5 pound lightweight hunter built by John Beanland
24 inch 8 twist #3 rock creek barrel

When I got my 260 everybody told me I must use H4350 and try to get 2900 fps out of 130 gr bullets. Finally a kind man on this site encouraged me to try H4831/140s and not get greedy on velocity. Best thing I did.

I don't shoot a 260 but do shoot a 6.5 creedmoor their more or less twins I only shoot 140 class bullets

powders I like for top speed and accuracy

H4350
Superfomance
RL17

I tried H4831sc it was very accurate but didn't give me the speed I wanted for shooting at 1000yds I would not hesitate to use it for shorter range work.
