The SAUM is a bad *** little cartridge that is showing impressive bore life when loaded to a moderate velocity. However, all things being equal, capacity wins the velocity debate. I don't think the saum can equal the velocity of the Nosler with the same bullet at the same pressure. The saum is dern efficient for sure (i'm still waiting to see which manufacturer pick it up as a saami round first) so it might get close to what is undoubtedly a very overbore cartridge in the Nosler but my experience says horsepower is still dictated by powder capacity.

I've since changed my mind and have decided on the Dakota as the parent case for this wildcat when I do it.

Yes he does! The 6.5 SAUM is a great little cartridge... but it is what it is and it isn't a Dakota or a 375 Ruger or even a WSM for that matter. Displacement wins every time.
I am pushing 140's over 3400 fps out of a 6.5 WSM. You will not see a SAUM do that.

So far I've heard ER shaw will be producing barrels as well as their custom rifles will be chambered in it. Has anyone heard of any other barrel company chambering for it? Want to start a build as soon as I find a donor action

I have a Weatherby Mark V that would make someone a great base for this cartridge just get a new barrel...
