So just picked up a new Mark V backcountry in .257 WBY. Mostly a deer gun possibly some day an elk gun. All that said I want some opinions on what scope I should put on top. Not a fan of all the complex scopes with the crazy dials and knobs. Just an above average 500-600 yard max scope for the deer/elk woods. What are some good affordable options? Trying to stay under $1000

If I'm buying a scope that I'm not going to dial, I always look at Burris first. They are such a fantastic value. Definately get a BDC reticle of some kind, and maybe illumination. Their Fullfield IV 2.5-10x42 with illuminated e3 reticle comes to mind. Or maybe the same scope in a 3-12x56 with illuminated C4 reticle if you need to prioritize brightness.

Vx5hd 3-15x44 with the bc reticle
110 accubonds and imr 7828ssc.
Zero your cross hair at 300 and your golden
If you prefer a 100 yard zero that works as well out to 570

I am running a Zeiss hd 3x15 with a Kenton turret on my 257 bee.Very simple and worked well to 650 yards.I change from 100 grain barnes to the hammers recently and changed the turret-so far all 3 of those scopes have been flawless.
I second the 7828ssc!
Would also check out the Swaro line

Razor HD LHT 3-15x42. Be patient and shop around, they can be had for $800 ish. There isn't a better lightweight dialing scope anywhere near that price range.

I agree the vortex razor HD LHT HSR-5i reticle, illuminated. 3-15 x 42mm, $1000 range. Vortex has the Best warranty on the market, hands down.

@d_wit22,

There is a guy, Bugger is his handle, on www.24hoourcampfire.com with a Bushnell 6500 Elite 4 1/2-30X50 like new in the box for $899. It has 30mm tube with mildots. It weighs 22 ounces. I have three and am delighted with them. I heartily recommend it. If you want I will post some comparisons with other optics; both on a military optics chart 127 yards distance and low light on antlers 131 yards distance.

I have over a hundred pages of optics comparisons and I can guarantee this scope will blow the others in this thread away.

Leupold VX3 or Burris Fullfield IV with the reticle you want. If you want to spend it all Leupold VX5, Burris Veracity. Bushnell Elite is some very high quality glass...equal and even better to some to the VX5 and Veracity for sure.

Definitely something slim and light, nothing over 40mm obj. 3.5x-10x vx3i , or a straight 6x
