Has anyone pulled one of these yet to check the charge?
I am very impressed, the first three rounds out of my 307 did:
3702.2, 3704.8 and 3704.2fps according to my Garmin at 500ft.
Sub MOA. I will pull one and report back if anyone hasn't yet. I am concerned they may've used RL-26.

By comparison, my hand loads of 77.0grns of Ramshot Magnum under a Barnes 80grn TTSX lit by a Fed215 only averaged 3611.0fps at 1525ft elevation but was also sub MOA.

The 257 Wby is IMO one of the best unnoticed for flat shooting and precision.

I have one on some Wby action not sure which. Um, I have guns in safes not opened for a bit...

Doubt Weatherby ammo of any kind has US branded powder.
Norma makes all of Weatherby's ammo under license, have heard they outsource some of it, but they refuse to agree or deny such info.
Most of what of I've seen is in fact Norma powder, either ball or short cut extruded. It is not canister powder either, loads do not match loading manual weights or velocities.

Cheers.

Been shooting the big 257 since the early 1990s, You can search for some "special powder" but you probably won't beat RL 22 or IMR 7828 by much if at all.
You can also have H4831 or IMR 4350 shoot really well, while giving up a little velocity to 22 & 7828.

I had a 10T with Pac Nor super match, three groove barrel with zero freebore in 257 Weatherby where I shot the 85-87's at ~4130 fps with R#19 and Fed 215's. Sub 38" accuracy that turned coyotes inside out.

The same barrel shot in the high 2's with 72-73g of R#22 with 215's and 100g of various types at 3850. Even the 100g Partitions shot 1/2" out of this barrel. I have had a number of 257's, every one of them loved R#22 with 215s with 100s.

It is not worth the trouble unless you know what powder or proprietary combination they used. This applies to any ammunition manufacturer.
