I need to acquire a .22 caliber rifle that is capable of hitting a nickel at 100 yds every time. I will be using handloads, so no comments on what bullets, powder or brass.
I have a Leupold 6.5-20 with target knobs ready to put on, as well as Harris bipods.
I do not want a .222 or a .22-250.
I was planning on spending aroung $700-900 for the rifle alone, or buying a cheaper rifle with a nice action and then purchasing a new barrel, trigger, stock, and glass bedding.
I'm planning on using this for a hunting rifle capable of shots out to 500 yds.
I have heard decent reviews on the Stevens 200, Savage 12, and Remington 700. I don't want a brand new rifle, as they are quite expensive.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
