I am looking into a hot 22 cal to shoot the 75 + grain pills. Been trying to see the differences in these two and some of the other hot 22 cals. Wondering about the major differences and ask if you were to build the 22/6 would you use a long action?
Wanting it to shoot yotes and small deer.
Thanks guys

22-243 because I have three of them. The 22-6mm does about the same but the 243 cases are found everywhere. The 22-243 A.I. holds more powder but I don't think you need it for 3500 fps and long barrel life.
I use Rel. # 19 and Rel #22 with CCI primers, 243 brass sized down to 22 and then neck turn for a .256 neck, run 75 grain A-Max bullets out to 3790 fps.

This round will shoot through a bowling ball at 1000 yds with 47.4 grs Re. #19 and 75 gr. A-Max, has shot a 1.75" group best at 830 yds, and kill at 1151 yds. 100yd groups are 3/8" down to one hole 3 shot groups with some 1/4" 10 shot groups, depends on blood pressure that day.

I shoot a Savage 112 long action for more room to load, a douglas XX barrel fitted by Sharp Shooter Supply's owner Fred Moreo, he has been building my barrel set up since 1997. I shoot a 1-9 twist and have shot 35 V-Max bullets up to 5600+ fps for fun and killed Prairie Dogs with that little bullet out to 600 yds.
I am building another 22-243 right now with Savage Target action, F Class stock and a heavy straight contour barrel in 1-14 for 4500 to 5000 fps shots.gun)gun)gun)gun)gun)gun)

I was pushing 80 gr V-Max 3470 fps with only 41.4 grains of Varget in my 27" barrel 22-243 A.I.
Just think what is going to happen at my max load of 47.6 grains!lightbulb

Gee whiz!! That's flat moving! Wonder what barrel life would be with that?

if your looking at the Vias, it's supposed tobe a little better than one ones off the .243 case. The 6mm Vias will push a 70 grain bullet to 4100fps! The case is a 6.5x55 with the shoulder pushed back about .04" with a fully blown out case. I think that when my 6/250AI barrel finally quits I'll shorten the chamber and then make it into a fast twist 6mm Vias to shoot those long and heavy 6mm bullets

Not trying to high jack the thread here, sorry cowboy. But I would like to see more info on the Vias round. Does anyone have any more info or a good place to look. I googled both the 22 Vias and the 6mm Vias and not much comes up.

This was my choice. The bullet was moly coated and chronographed at 3,670 ft/sec.
