I just loaded up some 208 amax for my 30-06 with Superformance. Started at 54 grain went up to 57.5. In half grain increments. Once the weather clears up I will get out and shoot them.
It's not..... the biggest difference is. The 30-06 is a pump action 5.5 lb pack gun... the 6.5-06 is a heavy barreled long piped bipod setup more tuned for longer tosses than a 4x fixed power brush beeter..... sure the 06 will run the distance..... just not anywhere near accurate enough to be safe to shoot say 1000 with it and expect a kill zone shot on a gun that's lucky to group 1 moaA 212 gr eldx at 2800 fps hits with 1678.7 fps and 1326.5 lbs at 1000 yards. What is your 6.5-06 shooting to be better than that?
I started at 56.... at 57 the tone changed and at 58 it went to a crisp crack but perfect primers on both.... but I could be long enough that being set to almost at lands is helpful in higher charge loadsI just loaded up some 208 amax for my 30-06 with Superformance.
