204 Ruger

Well I just purchased a beautiful little 204 Ruger in a CZ platform and am wondering what to put on it for a scope. I was hoping you gents could give me a few ideas. It appears that 1"rings are the norm as I could not find any 30mm to fit on it. I live in Montana so shots can be very long but I think most shots would be in the 200-300 yards range with the occasional one maybe a little longer. Just curious what you guys are using out there on your 204's. Thanks in advance for your posts.

1" scopes will serve you well. Deburr the edges of the scope rings, run a layer of thick clear packaging tape in the rings so they will not "eat up" the scope body. If you have the ability, Lap the rings.

40g V max is reported by a good friend to turn the internals of a coyote to jello, as the coyote pulls apart when the hide was ripped off during tube skinning.

I run a Ziess 1" 4 x 14 on my 204 and have killed hundreds of coyotes from inches away to almost 500 yards… I haven't needed any more than the 1" tube on this rifle. I guess it depends on your application.

I don't really have one but I am not looking to put a 2k scope on it. Less than a grand.

I have some leupold older mildot and fixed 10x if you want 1inch.

I run an older Leupold 3 - 12 with the varmint reticle and it is more than adequate for the coyote hunting i do. And that is a 1" tube

Warne makes 30mm CZ rings. I run warne rings and Sightron SIII scopes on all my CZ 527s and they are perfect that way. Never had an issue with having to re sight in. Only down fall of the SIIIs is they get blurry at the highest powers on hot days.

I too just purchased a new .204. I've had several and love that chambering.
I topped this on with a, Zeiss 6-24x50 30mm tube.
I have a different .204 with a Vortex 6-24x44 30mm tube
Lots of good choices out there.

40g Berger 40Vmax never had one walk away. Check your barrel twist.

You must be buying some very, very, very low-end scope rings if you have to "deburr" the edges! Increase your budget allowance for these things.
