200 grain partition for 30-06

Hello all like everyone probably know nosler bullets are really hard to find and I've been looking for accubond and partition and all I have been able to find are 200 grain partition and the biggest caliber rifle I have as of right now is a 30-06 and I wanted to know has any one used the 200 grain bullets for 30-06 if so what are some good loads and what are the pros and cons and how was terminal performance and what would expected velocitys be also are they going to be a waist of time for white tails at 10 to 400 yards. IMO 200's are a bit long and slow in 30-06. You'll need to seat them deep in order to stay under mag length, and loose case capacity.

A 165 (and possibly 180gr) would be a better choice for deer at the ranges you have stated.

I've loaded up some 180 partitions over RL26, with a goal of 2850 -2900 fps - but haven't shot them yet. More of an elk load than deer.

For deer, I've shot all types of 150-165 gr successfully at sub 250 yards for 35+ years. Shot an elk last year with a 165 SST at 400 yds with a 1 shot kill.

Okay that's kind of what I was thanking I would rather shoot 150s to 168s or so but cant find them in partition or accu bonds and that's what I would like to try in it.i did shoot some 178 eld x out of it today but best groups out of it were right at moa I'm going to do some work and try and get little better out of them.

A few years ago I downloaded my 300 Weatherby w/ 200 partitions from 2950 to 2650 fps due to a nagging neck problem. If I remember correctly, this is right at top 3006 velocity. Loved the load and the accuracy was fantastic, so never went back to the hot load. Took this to Africa and shot everything with it, and all one-shot kills. Also used it on Kansas whitetail with the usual partition reaction. When I get my 3006 barrel put back on my other rifle, this bullet and the lighter hammers will be what it uses. 400 yards will have a lot of drop.

180 interlock flat base bullets or 180 grain bullets with either h4350 or rl 26 is very nice. I used h4350 for a very long time until I ran out but have played around with rl 26 for about 1 year with good result

yesterday I shot out of a 22 inch gun with a 180 grain interlock 2780 FPS. rl26

so far both my 06 like the FPS around 2800 FPS. What I found interesting with the short barrel 06 is I used magnum primer 215 and reduced my Ed and SD to low numbers. What I found out of 2 30-06 the loads was 62-63 grains. iSH.

interlock 180 grain is a cheaper bullet but extremely effective on a white tail.

Thanks for the info and your right it will have alot of drop that's as far as I can shoot in clear cut were I hunt and most of my shots were I see deer are around 250 to 300 but wanted to know what it would do just in case.i have two 308s that i usely use in that area just because I'm more confident in them as I've been shooting them longer

I like that it isn't super explosive, just nice expansion and lots of penetration. 180 grain is probably optimum, but I do like heavy bullets in the 30 cal I don't know how quickly you need them, but you might try Hammer bullets. They have quickly become my go-to bullet, and have been using the 152 Hunter in my 308. They act just like a partition, but better!

I'm looking at ordering some of those but cant make up my mind which ones to try I thank the shock hammers is what I'm going to order or just order 50 of each to try out

I use the Hammer Hunters, and want to try the Absolutes. The Absolutes require some special loading techniques though. You should be able to shoot a lighter bullet than a standard cup/core bullet. I've been wanting to try the 137's in the 300 WBY. Should be a laser inside 400, LoL.

Get on the backorder list from Midway. They DO come in, I just had two hundred 220gr ELD-Xs show up in my mail box last week, they were ordered sometime around October. Looks like 150gr Partitions can be backordered.

Midsouth will let you backorder 165gr Partitions, 165gr and 180gr BTs, and 165gr and 180gr ABs.

H4831sc will get 2600 fps pretty readily. Kills pretty well from coyotes up. A forum member killed a nice grizzly with the 200 partition. Others as well.

With H4831SC a speed of 2630fps is calculated, but pressure is up at 58K psi.
