200 grain partition for 30-06

With H4831SC a speed of 2630fps is calculated, but pressure is up at 58K psi.

I've used it in a few rifles, never had an issue.

Powder charge varies a little rifle to rifle, but 2600 fps has been pretty consistent.

Sierra, Accubonds, and other 200 grain .308 bullets, all perform about the same.

Depending on case volume and rifle bore the pressure shown is theoretical. Dropping to 2600fps will also lower that. I think it can safely be said that RL26 will give lower pressures than H4831SC for the same performance. For hunting purposes a 50fps difference is of no consequence.

Hello all like everyone probably know nosler bullets are really hard to find and I've been looking for accubond and partition and all I have been able to find are 200 grain partition and the biggest caliber rifle I have as of right now is a 30-06 and I wanted to know has any one used the 200 grain bullets for 30-06 if so what are some good loads and what are the pros and cons and how was terminal performance and what would expected velocitys be also are they going to be a waist of time for white tails at 10 to 400 yards. The 30-06 is probably the most versatile caliber ever made because it's been around the longest 200 grain partitions shot out of it will have no problem whatsoever taking down any size animal out to 400 yards

200 noslee partition really cuts case capacity......

Load them as long as possible regarding mag length...

Burn as fast a powder as possible

Will work EXCELLENT for roosevelt elk and big bears for Texas heart shots... penetration will be AWESOME...

As of 12/28/20 @ 10:40 A.M. EST Midway USA has Barnes 165 grain TTSX 30 caliber bullets. For the application/type of hunting you have described in this post they will do all and more for the desired terminal ballistics on a whitetail deer. If I were going whitetail deer hunting this would be the bullet that I would be using; and........."It will keelllll!" You also could try contacting Hammer bullets, usually they will help you out as well. The other option for me would be to purchase factory ammunition for this particular hunt. No one likes to hear this, however with times as they are this would be a very viable option.

They work fine, despite technical reasons why they shouldn', I've shot a bunch of pigs and a few deer with 200gr Sierra spbt's. Try I4831 or RL22

The 200 gr Nosler partitions are good bullets, I just think they are a bit heavy for the hunting application the OP has described. With a 200 yard zero they will drop 25 inches at 400 yards, but......so will the Barnes 165gr TTSX bullets that I wrote were presently available at Midway. I've been using Barnes bullets for black bear hunting for the past 6-7 years, they are extremely reliable, never any issues, never recovered a bullet either. I have some Barnes 130gr TTSXs for the .270, haven't had the opportunity to get out and try them as of yet.

Yes I agree the Nosler 30-200 PT will work, they just wouldn't be ideal for whitetails. I'm pretty sure I have some 165 gr BT's or PT's laying around some where.

34 bullets available in 30 cal IN STOCK AND available at midway between 140-180 grain AT LEAST 26 will kill a whitetail DRT.....

Try RL-16. I got 2685 from a 22 inch barrel with a 200 gr SGK. Flies a lot flatter than you'd think

I like Patitions, 3006s and deer but never had any luck telling any of my rifles what they will like.
My old Ruger 7mag likes 160 partitions and has filled a lot of tags over the years, my go-to gun for 15 years
Bought the 06 in my avitar for a high country elk gun, problem is it only likes 168 Amaxes. Not the best elk bullet IMPO, started with 180 and 200 partition as well as a few other heavy hitters but no accuracy.
Lb fer lb whitetail are tuff critters but placement takes precedence over weight and construction! Accuracy and your ability to range correctly are key.
A 20ga slug at 50 yards should have been a done deal but the bigest deer I'v ever shot at rolled over backwards, caught his feet and ran off. Years later I confirmed that the slug hit too far forward and centerpunched the shoulder......It happens
Long way around the barn but dont get hung up on what you want but rather what will get it done. You have plenty of firepower in the 06, most bullets at 06 velocities will get the job done if you do your part
