195 Berger in 7 prc

You are definitely not the majority. Very impressive for a prc for sure. But your statement is not quite true. The 7prc and the 7rm are not basically the same except for a belt. What would be more factual is the the 7RM and the 7LRM are basically the same except for a belt. You are an exception to the rule essentially. Not to be ignored but also not to be expected. Your 7prc performance is not what people build a 7prc for because it is categorically not going to produce the numbers you see. At least it categorically has not. So your findings haven't quite put this to bed like you'd hope. But impressive non-the-less!

How are they not? They are all very similar case capacity. The 7 LRM and 7 prc use the same parent case, and have almost the same case capacity. So….

From Ammoguide (because no one will agree anyway)
7mm PRC 79.5
7mm Rem Mag 80.8
7mm LRM 84.8
7mm STW 92.7
28 Nosler 97
7mm RUM 106.6

Y'all can "similar capacity" or call all that BS but it is published numbers. I'm good either way.

Not saying they are false, the velocities referenced in some posts are exceptional numbers. Unfortunate for me that no documentation I have, nor QL can make it. :(

I'm sorry but your comparison hardly accomplished what you thought it would! Just sayin....
Impressive that your 28" prc put out astonishing numbers but those numbers are not astonishing for the cartridge you are looking to best. Fact still remains that the 7prc struggles to keep up with the numbers 7RMs put out. 🤷‍♂️ which is not surprising being that it has less case capacity.

It doesn't have much less case capacity. Less than 2 grains doesn't make much of a difference. I am not saying the 7 prc is the end all be all. But it's still the same as a 7 rem mag.

Kind of like another youtubers recent video comparing the 300winmag to the 300prc. Once you put a custom chamber in the tried and true cartridges, the latest and greatest aren't all that great. In saami form though the tried and true get smoked.

Mark and sam after work did a video several years ago comparing the 300 norma, the prc, and the winmag with 225-230, and 250gr bullets. The results were very surprising. To me anyway. The Norma and the prc really shined with the 225/230's, and the winmag actually pulled ahead with the 250's. Something about a short fat powder column vs long and skinny.

the prc's were made for people that just like to buy ammo and shoot. For the rest of us they really don't do anything special.

Not not really. Those 2 grains make a large difference. To act like they don't is fascinating. You are righ about the prc not being the end all. As mentioned Your numbers are not normal. Impressive but not expected. The fact that they are impressive proves it. It surprises people that a 7prc would hit 3000 with a 195. The norm is that you would be happy if the prc hit 3000 with 180s. That's not impressive with a 7RM it's expected. Hardly the same thing

3000 fps with 195s is not expected with the 7 RM. No published data comes close to that. That is stretching the limits of both cases.

That's not what I said. I said "The norm is that you would be happy if the prc hit 3000 with 180s. That's not impressive with a 7RM, it's expected." Im merely acknowledging the OPs performance with a 195 while complimenting his finding with what is generally expected. As for published data its not really relevant. If we stick with published data the PRC loses 100% of the time 😆😆. Unless we actually believe hornady, in that case the PRC will shoot faster and kill more better.

Oh if we go with Hornady published data and there excuse of we had to change powder types because we couldn't get original powder we should see the PRC'S taking down tanks and armored cars. I see a lot of people claiming crazy FPS from these cartridges and can only imagine the brass is one and done with these pressures

I thought the same thing trust me. I never thought I would touch the low end of a 28 Nosler with a 7 prc. I buy a cartridge for a specific bullet class, the 7 prc for me is the 180 class only. The brass has been fired multiple times with the 180, no issues with primer pockets. I decapped and reseated primers and they are still tight. I don't get it I didn't set out to have a huge argument because I don't really care. I have a custom built 28 Nosler that I shoot the 195 in and only the 195.
