Anyone load 181 Hammers long in a 300 Wsm? Kind of cart before the horse but working with my gunsmith chambering a long action 700 and new 26" barrel. It seems like the ideal seating coal of the 181 may be as long as 3.03 which is not a problem but not sure my seat of the pants guess is close. Any experience related will be appreciated. Only other priority loading for this rifle is 190 Nosler Accubonds with coal 2.86 - 3.00. Thank you!

I'm waiting for the same bullets and will be using H4350 as it gets well over 100F here in the summer so I need a powder that is stable when it's HOT and 4350 is. I think H1000 is a little slow for the 181, I'll start around 60 grains of H4350.
Depending on your temp range Reloder 26 can give you some great velocity but my experience with it show huge pressure spike above ~84F.
You can always ask Steve at Hammer or maybe he will chime in. Also, use a magnum primer.

Give RL 16 a try. Really good in the WSM and very temp stable

I have some but haven't loaded them up yet. been thinking about trying H4831sc since I have so much.

Wow, all these new powders. RL16, 23, 26 geez. I've only been out of it for 7 years.

One that was NOT very stable for me was Retumbo. Shot great in the cold, stuck the bolt in the summer.

Since I am building on a long action I have more than enough magazine length for the 181 Hammer. Could go to the heavys but for now really want to finish this build for various 180 to 190 weight bullets with the 300 WSM.

I use the 190gr Berger HVLD in my .300 Win Mag. It's not a WSM but very accurate bullet. I didn't have luck with the Nosler 190gr ABLRs.
FYI the Berger 215 hybrid will give you more velocity(shorter bearing surface) and a better BC than the 210, combined with H1000 it is known as one on the best combinations in the 300WM right about 3,000fps
