180gr 300WSM loads? favorites?

Sorry I have nothing, I don't know anyone who shoots anything other than Bergers from their 300 WSM's :D:D:D

They probably shoot farther than I do.gun)
You already know my mind is made up, & I realize my limmitations that are self imposed by sticking with bonded bulletts with a lower B.C. but I honestly have no desire to shoot farther with this particular rifle.
Maybe someday, ill have a sherpa to pack my rifles for me so I have one 300 for 0-800, & one custom built 338 supermag for 6-1200. Maybe then ill try Bergers in thier current "Target" configuration. But untill they build a bonded bullet, or I have a custom made cannon, & sherpa to pack it, ill just limmit my range, & be happy.:D

P.S.
I'm still disappointed in you for leaving the "He-man club" & sellin out to the 7mm crowd:D:rolleyes::D
No more "man card for you" Ha

Actually not one of them is a long range shooter, the last one went from Accubombs to Bergers when I shot a cow he wounded in the shoulder with his 300 WSM, one 140 Berger behind the shoulder tipped her over like you pole axed her!!

Careful how you jab me, I'll chamber a 7mm mag in a Savage, load it with 140gr Bergers and send it to your wife and have her hide it next to your other rifles, it'll be like kryptonite to super man, just think of that filthy 7mm Savage rubbing up on your Winny's :D:D

You do that, & ill personally drive to Montana to put a sticker on your window that says
NOTHIN RUNS LIKE A DEERE.....WITH A CAT ON IT'S TAIL!
Then ill stick a Case International liscense plate frame on your pickup. Maybe even getcha a Massey Furgeson flag for your front yard. Or a Ford New Holland one. I'll suprise ya.
Then ill send Feenix over in his Toyota to pick you up to come get your ugly girlie gun outa my gun cabnet, just so I can tell you to park out by the curb:D:D:D
Maybe if your nice after all that, ill give you a ride over to the Nosler Pro Shooters Shop, & buy you some bullets, just cause I'm a nice guy.
Waaaahhahahahahahaaaa
Now that'd be funny if I had enough $ to pull it off.

Tell ya what, if I won the Powerball today, ill do just that.
Then ill go buy a big *** DEERE, cause I can, & you can hot rod it for me. Then well go use it to build a shootin range.:D

What's a good starting point for RL-22?
What are some RL-22 loads that you guys are running?
What kind of velocity should I expect? & how long are the barrels on the ones you load for?
Load data with RL-22 seems lacking in the 300WSM. I could only find it at Alliants website, & it had the same charge weights, & velocity as RL-19..........???
I was thinking with all the guys LOVING RL-22 for thier 300win mags, that I could possibly see some good results in my Shortmag tho. So I figured I'd ask.

7828 is just too course for my liking, but thank you for the suggestion. I'll keep it in mind, & maybe buy a pound just to have on hand & play with if I get the bug.
H-414 sounds neat, but lacking in velocity (in comparison) from what I've read.

68 grns of R22 gave me 2983 avg velocity out of a 24" barrel with the 180 Ballistic Tips. I went up to 69 grns but didn't chrono it.

It wasn't accurate in my gun, it seems to shoot the 165's better. I really wanted to shoot the 180's, but just couldn't make em group any better than 1.5 minutes. My rifle is on it's way back from the gunsmith now, he couldn't get it to shoot the 180's either, even after Lilja re-lapped the barrel, but he said the 165's are showing alot of promise (like 2" groups at 500 yds).:)

The 165's are only slightly lower BC but we can push em faster. So according to the ballistic program, we don't give up hardly any energy or terminal velocity out to 750 or 800 yds by shooting the 165 Ballistic Tip or Accubond vs the 180 BT or AB......... maybe loose a little penetration on something elk size.

I load 70.5 grains of IMR 7828ssc with 180 Hornady Interbonds and get 3040 fps. I have a box of 200 Accubonds I want to try. The 7828 ssc is alot smaller than standard 7828 and feeds really well. Hornady does make H4831 in a short cut (sc) form that should feed better if that is the issue.

I should have been more clear earlier. I was referring to the SSC version of 7828 as well. Sorry.

Well, I shot mine some today...Looks like about 63.0 grains of H4350 is going to work in my rifle. Shot down in the 6's with low ES and rough average velocity of 2925 in my factory 23" barrel.

Holy cow that's encouraging! Mines gonna be wearing a 26"pipe, so 3100 may be a realistic goal, as long as accuracy is still there.
Thanks for the update!

H4350 got better until I stopped at 63.0. This is close enough to max for me for now as it was 31 degrees while I was shooting. I may bump it up a little this Spring. If you can run them in your mag any longer than 2.86, you will free up a lot of capacity in the case and 3100 should be very realistic. Keep me informed.

Thanks 6.5Express,
Winchesters have quite a bit of length in the mag, but mine will have more than usual.... It's being built on a long action!!:D
Ooooooo I can't wait!!!gun)

Before anybody jumps my case, or starts in on the whole 230 Bergers thing, I am only running Bonded bullets in my hunting rifle. It's a personal choice. I have no experience with Bergers, & I'm not knocking them. I just like what I like, & I trust my Accubonds.
I KNOW I KNOW, I have tons of room for longer bullets, but I don't want to run 230 Bergers.
I may look a little closer at 200gr Accubonds, but I'm guessing that the reduced velocity would keep me in a very simmilar max range for proper bullet expansion, & kinetic energy as the 180.
Someday when I can afford it, Ill get an Edge built for anything longer range than the 300 running Accubonds can handle.
I like to keep my self in check, & operate within what I feel are mine, & my cartriges effective range. If I wanted to go longer, I'd have a different cartrige, not a different bullet.

I load for 2 different 300 wms's (tikka and weatherby). both had excelent luck w/ 180 AB's and with H 4350. I achieve about 1/2" groups w/ the tikka and about 3/4" with the weatherby. both push 2950 at the muzzle. I've tried reloader 19 but didn't have that good of luck with it. I do load for a 325wsm and that is the load of choice (light load of 19).

I highly doubt you'll reach 3100 with H4350 and a 180 even with a long tube. I don't see you hitting a true 3100 with anything but RL17.

H4350 will get you to 3000 or just above with the longer barrel.

Another thing you may consider is running a 165 AB with around 66 grains of RL17. In your barrel you'd probably be around 3225 fps pretty easily. Or, if you don't like RL17 you could run it with H4350 at 3075-3100 fps.

My personal choice would be to run the 200 Accubond at 2900 with H4831 or IMR 7828ssc and outperform the lighter 165-180 ABs by a significant margin.

The step from 165 to 180 isn't all that great considering you can drive the 165 faster, but the jump in BC from the 180 to 200 is significant enough to produce 200 ft lbs of extra energy at 500 yards. This is comparing a 180 AB at 3050 fps to a 200 AB at 2900 fps at sea level. Then, if you wanted to reach out a bit further the 200 will produce at least 1800 fps to 775 yards.
