Shot out to 1000 yards this past weekend for the first time. Pretty cool. I had some good results @ 500 yds with l68 berger rounds from HSM. I would like to tweak them with some hand loads. Any pointers or load recommendations?

Thanks

Try 70.7 grains of H1000 with a CCI 250 and a 168 touching the lands. 71-72 grains of Retumbo with a Fed 215 is also a killer combo. Both loads in Win brass.

Win brass
215 federal primers
71.5 grains of retumbo
168 Berger hunting vld
This load shoots well in my rifle with 3 shot groups in the 5-7" range at 1000 yards.
As always start low and work up on the load. Good luck.

71gr H1000
Fed 215M or Rem 9 1/2m
Nosler brass
168gr Berger Classic hunter

0.010 of the lands to 0.100 off the lands solid 1/2moa on bad days
It is a pretty warm load though, work up with care.

im using 70gr H1000 Fed215M primers and win brass 5-10 thou off lands.
tested 3040fps at 0F and 3060fps at 65F. no pressure signs.

I am in the process of loading up some 168's myself. I will be loading up some test rounds for seating depth this weekend as berger advises. Then once I find the depth that works best for my gun I will work a charge up. I am using H1000, 215primers, and winchester brass. From what I have read H1000 is supposed to hzve a little better ES than Retumbo but I have never tested it myself to find out. I have had pretty good luck with H1000 to this point.

The load I shoot in my 700P, is 67.0-H1000-168 VLD @ 3.336 OAL. In my rifle, that puts me at about .040 off the riflings. Velocity runs at 2977. My barrel must be tight or something, because I have heard off guys shooting MORE powder, to get the same velocity. If I go with more powder, I get pressure signs.
This load is Extremely accurate, as I have several sub 1/4 inch @ 200 yards. Barrel length is 26 inch. Enjoy!
