143 Hammer Hunters 28 Nosler Loads

Thanks everyone. I was already going to try Hammer bullets in my 28 Nosler but this is really a hell of a way to go.

I shoot both the 143 & 177 Hammer Hunter in my 7 STW (so ballistics should be close to your 28 Nosler). I use RL26 for both. I'm getting 3500+ fps with the 143 an 3000+ with the 177. Both are under 0.5" moa. These bullets are devastating on game. I used the 213 gr from my 338 Lapua to make short work of a Kodiak Island mountain goat a few weeks ago. Took out the front shoulder and made jelly of the vitals with a nice exit wound.

What bc are you getting with the 177s?

Run the 143 hammers at 3180 out of my 280AI and 130s out of my daughters 7/08AI to 3100. Just got back from Wyoming. shots out of the 280 were 400 and 225 performed flawlessly. Same out of the 7/08 at 275. Great bullets

Did you test them out to 1,000 or anything? Litz has the bc at .239, so it would be awesome if you could confirm the .313. I have a 28 nosler that I'd like to try them out in. I'm getting 3226 with the eldms.

I see some suggestions for RL26. Whay do y'all think about such a small case fill percentage on the 28 Nosler? Looks like only 82-84% case fill. H1000 Retumbo are 88% ish and RL 33 closer to 97%. This according to Nosler load data for similar weight bullets esp the 140-150gr . Just asking for experiences. I understand real world results matter most .

Litz is probably correct. I'm just going off what Steve at Hammer Bullets has listed. They haven't confirmed the BC with drops yet. It's still a bad *** bullet

I'm using 82.1 gr of RL26 with the 143 gr Hunter, so I've got a pretty full case.
I decided to use RL26 over Retumbo with the 177 gr Hunter since I had to seat that super long bullet deep in order to fit my Mag (3.700" OAL) and didn't want to run out of case capacity. The load is only 73.7 gr but it's got great velocity and accuracy. I use Retumbo with the 175 gr ELDX

Where did you find the Litz's info on the Hammer bullets? I didn't know he had tested them

Keep in mind the BC is an average and will be different if you are launching it at 3,600 vs ~3,000fps

My apologies on this statement as I was looking at the wrong column for RL 26. 82-84 is the number of grains. The fill capacity is in the 95% range. I think I'll give the RL26 a try with the 143 HH.

What's the listed bc from Litz for the 177?

Sorry found it above
