131 grain hammer hunter load development for my 6.5 PRC

I'm looking for some load data on the 131 Hammer Hunter for my 6.5 PRC. 22" proof 7.5 twist barrel. I have ADG brass and Hornady as well. CCI LRP in both regular and magnum. Powder options available to me are RL26, H1000, Retumbo, IMR8133, H4831SC, and H4350. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to the Hammer line of bullets so any other feedback as well would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

I've been using vitivouri N165 for both of my 6.5 Prc one is a pre 64 mod 70win with a bartlein 25 in 7.5 twist my 131 gr hammer hunter load is57.3 grs with a cci 250 mag primer I'm seated out to 2.990 wich is way longer than a short action or dbm will allow so if you try that powder I would start 4 or 5 grs lower and work up with the seating depth that works for your rifle my velocity was 3097 with 54.5 grs and 3190with 57.5 grs N165 looks to have the same burn rate or close to R23 if that means anything hope that helps load low and work up my 124 gr hammer load is 58.1 grs N165 3289 fps

I would cont Steve @ Hammer. He has helped me a lot on different load options for different calibers. Great guy to visit with.

Usually the maker will have data, but you need to get loading manuals Hornady , Siera, Berger . There is no magic load. Every gun is different. Manuals have pressure and velocity data. Very good starting place as you workup loads.

I have all the manuals and I asked about Hammer specifically because there is not data in manuals. I have a very firm grip on loading and I was just asking for some data from a person with experience loading this bullet. Thanks for the advice though.

I have been loading 124gr hammer hunters.
60.0 gr rl26, GM215m primers coal 2.955 velocity 3300
As far as powders that will work in the prc seems like burn rates from 4831 down too retumbo most popular r26 h1000 retumbo vitivouri N 560 and N165 I chose N165 because it is a single base cooler burning powder a little easier on the throat tried it like it good vel and acc looks to be close to R 23 another top choice for the 6.5 Prc If not mistaken I think Steve of Hammer bullets gets good results from R23

58.1 grs of rl23 yields 3190 from my 24" proof barreled 6.5sst. N555 or n560, h4831 would also be good choices.

I ran into some keyholes with the 131 Hammer out of a 1-8 twist Ruger Long Range Hunter. 3 out of 10 rounds keyholed at 300 yds. None at 100 . Im thinking now to switch to the 124"s

Your 1-7.5 twist might be OK.
I use 124 gr hammers in my 1-8 twist and 1.7.5 twist 6.5 prcs 131 gr in 1.7.5 only and 121 gr in my 1 .9 twist 6.5 x 284 s the 131 gr says on the box 1 7.5 or fastee

No data for the PRC but in working up loads with Hammers for my 7MM rem mag and the 30-06 I used Barnes load book data and then ended up Hitting pressure at load for the size class down. I did start low but made bigger jumps at the bottom.

137gr hammers in the 30-06 still haven't hit a heavy bolt lift but I got flat primers with Varget and H4895 at the max list charges for the 125gr Barnes, got up to 3230fps but the sweet spot was back down half a grain at 3150.

131gr Hammers in the 7mm Rem Mag I was ending up with cratering around max loads for 120gr bullet.
