123 eld-m on deer, anyone use them?

Anyone have data for a cool running powder, that will get the 120 class above 3000 FPS in x47 and creed size cases?

I would like to know also. I was going to try 4350 and varget as I have a lot of both. It seems with varget in the upper 37-39 area is where most people are looming.
I picked up some Varget to try, along with some 4451 I already have. I would like to find a stuffed case with something a little cooler running. I figure, pushing these weights above 3000 FPS will start being hard on the throat. Not so much of a problem for some that are using it for hunting only. It's also hard not to burn thru a 100 rounds just plinking with these little cartridges. Lol

I've built three 6.5x47's. All three shot the best at the upper node, 39.5 grains of Varget, but the two built on 700's had hard bolt lift & were too hard on brass. The third was built on a Bat with a Bartlein 28" tube, and had no problems with that load, which shot the 130 VLD's at 3010.

Take what it gives you, not what you want.

Has anyone tried RL26 in the 6.5-47. I run h4350 in 6.5-47 with great results. I've been running RL26 and 4350 in my Creedmoor So I'm thinking maybe RL26 might work in the 6.5-47 Lapua.

I might be a little concerned about the 123 ELDm holding together at high velocity from a big x47L case. I ran the bullet below into a buck at 35yrds two years ago, you can see the carnage done to the heart, but can also see the carnage done to the bullet - and the simple fact I got the bullet back. A mature, big Kansas whitetail buck, but the bullet stopped under the far hide and there's only 80 some-odd grains left there - a bit under 70% weight retention. Technically a bullet failure. And that's leaving the station around 2500fps from a 20" Grendel AR. Did the job, as I ate the buck, but I'd be concerned with putting another 400+ feet per second behind it.

I run the 120 Sierra sp at 3000fps out of my 6.5x55 Swede and have taken deer cleanly out to 510 yds, my longest shot was this year on a buck at 510, hit him between the last 2 ribs quartering away and took out the goodies, and exited thru the right front leg blowing it off. I have taken about 30 deer with this combo, most 400 yds in, and it shoots a tiny group at 100 yds. I have mine zeroed at 300, cause that is the limit on most of the places I hunt here in KY, with the exception of 2 large hay fields which reach out to just a little over 500yds. You might want to give this bullet a try, it expands well at all velocity's, and is much less expensive.
Koger,

If you don't mind me asking which rig are using on your 6.5x55? And what load data? I myself have a Tikka but currently running factory 140sst's and 139 Scenars. Been thinking of trying the 120PH.

I don't know if H4350 is a cool powder but I run it in both of my 6.5x47's. My RBros runs the 130 Berger hunting at 2950" out of a 26" Broughton. Other gun shoots 130 Accubond at 2800 fps out of a 25" benchmark. Also I did try R26 with 147 ELD. Couldn't get enough powder in the case to produce decent velocity. Was very accurate though.
