Managed to make a 10 day DIY trip work out of an EXO K4 5000 pack. Longest trip I've done, the ~5 miles in with a 100 or so pound pack (camp + front loaded food) was not fun!!

Love to see your gear breakdown. Do you have a list?
Not the OP, but here is my ultra-nerd'd out 8-day backcountry gear list/breakout for my 2024 elk hunt in BC out of my Exo K4 5000. Tried to upload the Excel file, but the site won't allow it, so its in a PDF. If you want it in the original Excel with all the hyperlinks, you can pm me with an email and can send it to you. No suppressors allowed in CA, so the TBAC Ultra 5 obviously stayed home on this one

Gotta LOVE those, EXO Packs !
I'm an Old Light Weight,. 65 Pounds is My, Top weight !
And, 45 Pounds Feels, even Better !
Maybe, 4-5 Day Hunts, Max at, my Age !
Good Job ! Any Luck ??

No luck! We chased elk for 5 days in the Bitterroot and 5 days in the CDA Mountains. Saw 2 mountain goat, 1 bull moose, 2 cow moose, 12 elk total, 1 cinnamon phase black bear, 1 skunk, and ran into 1 grizzly on the trail all while completing 41 miles of hiking total. Was not able to turn up a bull I wanted to shoot, though. Definitely not for lack of effort or finding them.

Very cool. Did the pack slip at all?

Not one bit! The thing is just perfect and I for sure pushed it hard.

Nice! Until I saw the setup, I was wondering how you pulled off ten days with such a "small" pack. Lol

Haha yeah, keep the bear bag with food external till I get in. That load shelf is handy!

I can put one together and post here, I'll get back to you. I'd like to maybe even post a season review of the gear I bought and used for this year, well see.
