—Official 2024 Predator & Varmint Kills— Post Em Up

Those badgers are tough - I shot one a couple of months ago with a 6 CM and 108 ELDM, no exit at about 120 yards. Shot another with my 22 CM and the 88 gr ELDM. Again, knocked it right over, but no exit (as far as I can tell). Both badgers had great looking pelts, just couldn't bring myself to skin them out since they stunk so bad. Smell just like a skunk!

This was the one with the 22 CM.

They do stink. I wanted to get a full mount on a few I shot. But that money would be better spent on a ballistic rangefinder or e-caller.

I'm in to my groundhogs big time now. Decided to use some of my "big" handguns since I don't own any rifles. I hate seeing grounds move or twitch. Think I found a few handguns that work.
Here's one at 92 yards with my Taurus Raging Bull .500 Mag. and a 240 Sierra HP. Worked really good. Use this in AK a few years ago on a 8' brown bear at 129 yds. & a Barnes 375X (one shot).

Then I switched to my real "big boy" my .416 Taylor Encore hand gun. Got this one at 98 yards with a Banes X 350 gr. Not enough resistance from the groundhog for a lot of external damage, but penetration was excellent. Used this gun in Africa to take a bull elephant charging me at 12 yards!! with a Horn. 400 gr. DG-S.

That puts my lifetime groundhog handgun total to a little over 15,700.

Took my 9 year old daughter out to shoot gophers the other day. They still aren't out in full force yet but she killed 3 with 4 shots with the .22. Had to have her stylish flip flops and sunglasses on. 😎

She wants a coyote pelt next. I told her we need to keep practicing then.

Dropped this dog at 170 yds from ... sit down for this part...the carport. It was dusk and I had a caller going & she eased up to the far woodline. Probably didn't think i could see her but her silhouette was clear in my ATN Pro 4k. The 6mm ARC didn't drop at all.
