Well this is perplexing, conflicting velocity statements in their description? So which is it? I've seen this description on several sites?🤷🏻‍♂️ If it really can't do 4K, it's out for me.

That's because 65 fps to 5000 fps is for guns @Muddyboots and 65 to 3900 fps..is for arrows😜...lol

I ran the Garmin along with MagnettoSpeed at the same time and they were within a Foot of each other on MV. The ease of setup was worth it IMO as well as the time saved when shooting multiple rifles at the range during load development and tuning. Size of it is also beneficial from a convenience factor. I can head out and do some real situational type practice and pop the Garmin out of my pack/pocket and have it ready to go in a minute or so.

Caldwell also came out with a similar product to both of these but I've got no experience with it and it's priced higher than the Athlon.

If the Athlon were available when I bought my Garmin I'd have probably bought it. Once I was satisfied the Garmin did everything I wanted I offset the cost of the Garmin by selling my MS for $225.

Link to Caldwell:
Caldwell is about the size of lab radar....

Yes compared magneto speed to Garmin at same time. Was within 1fps on every shot.
I compared my old shooting chrony to a Garmin and it was the same...within 1 FPS. Now we only did this for arrows....276 fps.
I do want to compare it with rifle sometime.

I waited a long time to upgrade my old sky screen chronograph, I was going to do a Magneto, but do not like hanging stuff off the barrel, then was going to purchase a lab radar, but I had read a lot of people having issues lining it up and missing shots. This past year, decided to give myself a present and purchased the Garmin, based on reviews and not missing shots, I am glad I did, it is great, but at the same time I almost went with the new Caldwell for 100.00 cheaper. If I had not purchased the Garmin, I would definitely purchase the Athlon based on price point just to save the extra 250.00 and it basically looks like a Garmin. Hopefully, the first runs will be as reliable as the Garmin, time will tell. Glad to see another company in the mix with same technology.
I think there are a lot of people who are in this very same boat. While I struggled with the LR and I welcomed the Garmin due to its simplicity and improvements over the LR, further innovation and improvements are a hallmark of capitalism. However, will I ever go back to an improved LR after having struggled with the original LR for so long? Probably not. Too many bad experiences. Bring on the Athlon.
