I don't ignore anyone, I think it's best to see where the sheep lie.
I used to have the same stance. On some of them I was officially directed to.
I am sure you remember those instances.Also, oftentimes, friends tells me when my name is being used in vane here and other forums.

At home I practice selective hearing. On the net, I practice selective reading and even more selective responding

I can't imagine that I'll ever get so offended by someone on a forum that I'd have to use the ignore button.
I also can't believe I'm witnessing a post from someone that seems to be bragging about how offended they got 88 times....

Some forums I have a couple. But it takes allot for me not to even desire anything another person may have to say. Everyone has their moments, both good and bad. Self included.

Most of those on ignore were those that joined the forum to intentionally mislead and stir-up

Usually, I do not put anyone on official ignore, but some responses do get glossed over. I prefer to "try" to educate where I can, but like all who try, it can have mixed results.

None. I want to know where my enemy (potential) are at all times…allies too.
I only use ignore if I think it's someone I don't want to deal with in the classifieds. Beyond that, say what you will and I can decide whether to read, respond, or skip.
Good ideas can come from anywhere, even from people you vehemently disagree with the vast majority of the time. Also, threads don't involve $$, so no use getting too spun up about things.
