This listing is for a vintage, 1979, 1895 Marlin (JM marked) in 45-70 government with a 22 inch barrel ; not a cross-bolt safety. The rifle is in great mechanical condition, it is not a safe queen, however it is a solid gun. The rifle has some handling marks and some bluing wear in a couple of areas, the bore is bright, clean and there are no pits. The loading gate has been changed out to a Ranger Point loading gate, the rest of the rifle is all original. I have shot this rifle, it really likes the Barnes 300 grain TSX FB bullets. The stock has been refinished and it still has the "bird's eye in the stock. There is a mark on the left side of the fore end, please see the photos. As I described the rifle is not a safe queen, however the price reflects the condition of the gun. The bluing on the lever shows that the rifle has not been shot/used much at all. I bought this rifle for a friend who wanted to use if for black bear hunting, and then decided he wanted to go in another direction. We all know how that goes?? Asking $850 from my FFL to your FFL, plus shipping. USPS money order only. If you have any questions or want more photos please ask.
