Another possibility, if you're open, would be to try the Hornady 62gn ELD-VT. Profile and BC of the 75gn ELD-M with the speed of the 62gn. Per a phone call, Hornady suggests 8tw minimum and COAL of 2.390. Can use data for the 62gn FMJ starting low and working up. Velocities are higher.
Based on the ballistics that one outperforms the rest. Is that coal based on 223 rem, wyled or 5.56 nato? I have 73, 80, and 88 eldm in hand and plat to measure cbto and all at 2.55" coal just to compare them. I might throat my gun for something in the middle as a compromise so I have options should one not group well or availability become a problem.

I think the 62 is the same BC as the 75 HP, but it's less than the ELD-M (0.395 vs 0.467).
The speed increase may be worth it, depending on your desired range. I'd run a ballistics calculator on them if I was interested in the 62
The 223 wyled is a hybrid between a 223 Remington and 5.56 nato. It is very popular in Ar15s. The promise is that is has better accuracy than a 5.56 but still allows the use of 5.56 unlike the 223 Remington due to having a longer throat.

I put together a 223 AI. 28" 7 twist. Throated for 62 ELDVT. Hammers with both the ELDVTs and 80 ELDX. Cheap to shoot no recoil had lots of brass on hand.

I am building one. Well, the barrel was received in um 2016. The stock in 2017. It have everything else over the factory barrel.
Pre-fit Pac-Nor 7t.

@pantiti in my previous competition life I've shot 20 inch barreled service rifles in 223 up to 1000 yards; at first with irons, then rules changed that we can use up to 4.5X optics.
I've done well with both running long throated chambers like yours. However, by rules we had to single load. With that said, my 80 class and 90 class bullets were loaded with boattail junction above the shoulder.
You limit yourself basically with mag length ammo, my experience says you might be hard pressed to achieve the velocity you try achieve. Maybe you get lucky.
I don't know what long range means to you. In our world long range starts past 600 yards. If you were just to shoot inside 600, my take, any 75-77 class high bc bullets at mag length will get you there in 2700 to 2800 velocity range. Depending on what your barrel likes.

I misspoke. The 62gn ELD-VT is the same profile as the 73gn ELD-M with less lead in the core. The BCs are slightly different - .395 vs .398, possibly affected by the weight??? The guy at Hornady was quite helpful. You might give em a call. The COAL of 2.390 put the boattail/bearing surface junction near the neck/shoulder junction of the case, so capacity isn't affected much.
My RPR is at Bartlein for a new barrel and they urged me to go with the Wylde chamber for best accuracy. SAAMI should have specs on .223, 5.56 and Wylde chambers. Bartlein sent me a print of the Wylde.

Thank you for this info. The eld VT does great out to 400 but that is when the 88 surpasses it. The eld VT definitely has a lot to offer.
Tweaked my load yesterday in a saami 223 chamber running a 1/7, 24". I am running 26 grains staball at 2650 with an sd of 8 on no prep hornady brass. Ran 26-26.4. 26 and 26.2 are both good. 26.4 had a high fps round out of the 3. The charge is a bit compressed as well so likely just stick with the 26-26.2
5 shots at 500 with the 26. I had a little bit of horizontal wind so the dispersion could be me or the wind as the majority of the impacts are on the right within and around the 2" casing. It's nothing amazing but I am pretty happy with roughly .5 moa out of a the little pew pew.
Still trying to figure out how people are getting 2900 with a 90 class bullet since I am over book max and 250 fps less with one of the highest performance powders hornady and hodgdon list. Heck hodgdon shows sub 2600 for all the powders in a 24 running a 90.

Are you running staball 6.5? What bullet are you shooting? Hornady load data shows 2700 with a 20" barrel for their 5.56mm data.
Yep. I can't see a 20" running 2700 ever with staball. I'm using hodgdon data.
