If you're still in the fence with it, factory 225's are running 2740 out of one I did load work up in. 22" barrel. I hit a good node with 220 Berger's with it doing 2886 with Retumbo. You aren't loosing much. An elk at 600 won't know the difference. If you're strictly going to reload, consider the 30 Sherman Magnum. I have a 26" barrel in mine and push 230 Berger's comfortably at 3076. I can run hotter and push them over 3150 but my accuracy at 3076 was phenomenal, sub 1/2" @200, so I stuck with it.
Run that in a 20" with hand loads and you'll touch 3k with 215-220's. And in a pinch, shoot 300prc ammo. But I wouldn't reload with Hornady myself, just my opinion on that. Retumbo, N565, N570, and H1000 are all good powders.
