We Are Just Getting Startedā€¦

I never ask what rifle to build or buy. I have built 4 rifles in the last 5 years and have yet to finalize load development. Time has been at a premium. šŸ¤¬ I never sell any of my firearms. šŸ¤£
I've been thinking about selling one for around twenty years now, but all I do is buy another, or build one, or . . .

Rabbit hole? So that's what's in a rabbit hole... I always thought it was dirt and rabbits. Now I understand why everywhere I look there are reloading presses, dies, more dies, other dies, and dies not yet purchased. And powder... a lot is never enough. Even though I know that the new RamAccurateSpeedyFast0MOA powder will probably not be better than <insert favorite(s) powder here) I feel the need to try it 8 pounds at a time. Primers... just remember shiny side out, small primers for small pockets and large primers for large pockets. And all primers for deep pockets. And bullets. Super fast copper jacketed pointed tip super accurate multi grain bullets. They are everywhere. I made soup last weekend and I found a 300gr .338 Berger VLD in the pot. Now I'm wondering if that was really pepper? šŸ˜¶ šŸ‘€ :)

PS welcome to the rabbit hole

A buddy of mine is a great friend, mentor and shooter. He's been super helpful in my shooting journey that has started a few years ago. Unfortunately, he's a negative influence on my bank account!

I've got a few rifles, nothing to write home about. I'm wanting to go out west with the aforementioned buddy and will need a rifle. I thought I might buy a higher end factory rifle, in a mild cartridge. Then he shows me his latest beaut. Now I'm going down the rabbit hole! He turned me on to this forum, and lucky for him, I'll spread the blame to you guys as well. I'm here to soak up the knowledge and hopefully I'll be able to pass that on to my kids. Thanks for having meā€¦ FEG
Welcome from South Florida! It's a deep rabbit hole! Lock up the back door and run for your life šŸ˜‚

Enablers are thick on this great LRH forum. However, soaking up the perspectives of the various experienced shooters/hunters can allow you to avoid mistakes along the way. How deep you dig is up to you. The law of diminishing returns is real. We sometimes measure improvement in .1 inches, 25 FPS velocity and one ounce in weight.

Another welcome from MT. I may get shot at for this, but really, there are factory rifles that shoot plenty good enough to kill any game you are after for 1/4 the price of a custom. And, if finances are a concern, may be a wise consideration.šŸ¤«

If money is of no concern, try and spend to your heart's content.

I don't think we are allowed to shoot members. I sure hope not šŸ‘€ šŸ¤£ My old Rem Sendero in 7mag shoots pretty well (hole in hole at a 100 sometimes). Better than me all the time. I have a Rem TAC, .308 that shoots pretty well. And I just picked up one of the new "almost a Remington" rifles in .308. 1/2 MOA at 100, so far. And that's with a can.
