I do like me some 7828. I've had really good results with it in a 300winmag. Haven't seen it for sale in a while though.160g Sierra btsp is magic pixie duet in the 280 and AI at 2900 + fps. The std 280 gets there with IMR 7828 Long cut with a federal 210 in multiple rifles with 24" barrels.
Going back thru my records, Reloder 22 also did very wellMine shot .2 with H-4831SC but didnt like H-4350. A bit fast burning
Yeah I found that out. Picked up a can locally after not having seen the regular 7828 in a long time. It said on the can that it was the same as regular 7828 but I found out real quick that wasn't the case.Beaware that IMR 7828 old long cut version and the new Short cut versions have different pressure curves, the shot cut version seems to develop pressure a little sooner.
Hard to beat H-4350. It's also very very temp stable too...you couldn't find a better powder than H-4350 for any cartridge based off the tried and true 30/06 casing. I've loaded for everything from 25/06 to 35 Whelan and every diameter in-between and have never found a better power overall...
