I need help with a .300 prc build.

I to have been looking at the 300 prc and 338 edge , it's a hard decision as I'll be hunting with either one. Edge dies are expensive-80 rounds of prc factory ammo for what edge does cost and I've got components to load 300 prc and the edge, dang it build one of each!!

I love my 338 Lapua. However, if I had to do over again, I may have went 300 Norma mag improved.

The .300 NM/I is probably your easy button. If your action can accommodate ~4" COAL, the 300 RUM, the 30-378 WBY, or Kirby Allen's wildcats (Allen Express and Raptor, if it is in your consideration), you'll need the right bolt face, though.

I have my 300-416 Rigby Improved 40°, it propels 230's well into 3300fps, but for me, this is still limited to 1600 metres (1 mile). The reason is wind drift, nothing else.
A 300 PRC is no 2000yrd gun, if it is, then so is any other SMALL cartridge starting at 6.5mm, which has some of the highest BC bullets out there under 30 cal. It does not make them a 2000yrd cartridge/bullet in my experience, great to a 1000, good to a mile if pushed fast enough.
Supersonic flight is nothing without wind bucking ability…

so, a 250gr a-tip (.878 bc) is inferior to a 33cal 250gr at it's best best bc which is .100-.150 less. i can't do a 300gr 30cal. same weight on 250grs bucking wind, so how's that different? either way you compensate for drop and drift. some needs more than others.

To address your question. I have an MPA chassis and and XLR chassis both are good. The XLR is for hunting the MPA for the range. At the pricing you are looking for I would go with the MPA. I have a BA Hybrid. With the MPA weight kit and Grey Ops side weights the chassis weights 9.4lbs. All in with my action, barrel, optics, suppressor and bipod its about 21lbs. In a 6.5PRC there is virtually no felt recoil. You can do all that for around $1,400. Add $500 if you want to go with the MPA Matrix Pro.

I'm only hunting with whatever my decision will be I live in central Mt where we can shoot a grand easy and we get wind like nothing you've ever seen so I want something to buck the wind . A .300 Norma is interesting

No, that's not what I said or meant.
There is no way on Earth comparing SAME bullet weights in different cals is a fair, or correct, comparison.
What needs to be compared for correct analysis is highest BC, not weight, in BOTH cals. 338 wins hands down, 375 wins hands down over both, and NONE compare to 408…
It's the same as the old argument of 7mm against 30 cal, equal weight BC wins for 7mm, BUT, 30 cal has much higher BC with heavier bullets, then comparisons go out the window.
Have been doing this, designing cartridges and testing actual pressure to know what works.
The PRC is nothing new or special, the 300 RUM trumps it all over the place.
