Windy pants, where in the heck are you? We have been waiting for a long range coyote story. What the heck have you been doing up there? Let's commence to get shootin'.
Wow, that is amazing. Question. Why a 30-28 and not a 30 nosler or 28 nosler?I thought maybe you're getting sick of me. Been busy guiding elk hunts, and waiting for hunting season to end so I can get serious about coyotes. I did get three in a row that averaged 860 yards, then my rifle started shooting high and erratic, so now I have to screw a new barrel on and get load work up done. And my longest poke yet before it died. 1480 yards through the lungs. That 30-28 is a barrel burner, but man is it fun!

30/28 nos has a little more horsepowerWow, that is amazing. Question. Why a 30-28 and not a 30 nosler or 28 nosler?
Sorry to hijack but I've heard that with the introduction of 30 nos ADG brass it has pretty much put the 30-28 to bed.....I have no experience but I have talked with many who use 30 nos ADG brass and have went away from the 30-28. Can you speak to that sir?The 28 N has slightly more case capacity than the 30. The 30-28 is a match made in heaven for the 230 Berger. Just enough more capacity to hit the high node with 88 grains N570 @3125 fps. So it will run with the RUM or Norma with less powder. I abused the heck out of this barrel doing load developement with three different bullets, all hot loads, so I only got 450 rounds. I'll be nice to the next barrel and should get about 650. I don't mind rebarreling it every year when I get performance and accuracy like that.
yes the 28 case is a bit longer in the body.^^^more horsepower than a 30 nos??
I'm running ADG and my accuracy load is right up against pressure with a 28" barrel, so I don't think a straight 30 Nosler would get there. But a 230 gr bullet at 3000 fps is nothing to sneeze at either. I haven't tried it, but other people have said that with the 215 Berger the 30-28 has no advantage since it won't get to a higher node than the 30N. It just runs the 3050 node with less pressure.Sorry to hijack but I've heard that with the introduction of 30 nos ADG brass it has pretty much put the 30-28 to bed.....I have no experience but I have talked with many who use 30 nos ADG brass and have went away from the 30-28. So you're running 215s or 230s at 3125 out of a 28"? You've stated that with 215s the 30-28 has no advantage because it won't push to the next node. The advantage of the 30-28 is with 230s?I'm running ADG and my accuracy load is right up against pressure with a 28" barrel, so I don't think a straight 30 Nosler would get there.
