H4350 in a 280AI.

do you use the 160 TMK on game, if so, how do you like it ?
They are amazing!!! Just compare gel test to bergers and Eld-x on youtube. The penetrations is still great but after 2 inches into the flesh it opens up and keeps going. Vs the berger it opens up after 4-6 inches in. The problem is these are no where to be found anywhere. Sierra has not kept up with the 7mm. You find the 6.5, 30cal, and 22 77g but thats about it. Not only that compare those bullets on gel test as well in those calibers. They always react the same and do very well on low velocity as well. My 2 cents they are the best game bullet there is. However I have not tried them on Elk yet. Four antelopes, and 3 coues. Not only do they enter and don't exit, everyone destroys the lungs completely and destroys the spine. Vs the Eld-x which are great bullets but they always pass through with a golf ball size and run 20 yds. TMKs have no steps after being shot, dead before they hit the ground.

Midsouth has 500ct boxes right now.

I've heard about the 77 TMK's doing well in the 22 Creedmoor for deer.

I saw Midsouth has the 150 ABLR and 150 Accubonds too!
The 150 and 160 Ballistic Tip will git'r done too!

Watching on how the 77tmks on gel in low velocity is amazing. And pumping them out of the CM brass is an awesome bullet. But I need to Regress and not talk over the OPs 280 AI. Sorry Op.

I use RE23 pushing 160 TMK at 3020 FPS 1/4 MOA. Also 168 Bergers VLDs at 2980fps. I took off my 26inch barrel and just put on a 22 inch proof barrel and suppressed it. Its funny Im shooting the same load at 3030fps at 1/2 MOA at 200yd. I really think the 280 AI likes the RE23

Ahh it's alright. I think I figured out where I want to start next time I load for it. I'll start around 50-52gr and see what it does. I think his rifle has a 24" krieger 5r on it. Sendero contour.

I think the 77's are a little too fast out of the 22 creed. Unless you plan on 400 plus yard shots. The 223 velocity window does really well for them. I'm shooting them out of an 14.5" ar, and my brother is shooting them from a tikka t3x that I cut and threaded at 16"
He's getting right at 2700 fps, I'm 2500ish.

I've shot several nilgai with my 280AI. Some as close as 100 yards. I get 2800+fps with a 160gr NP. I've never gotten pass through. These are tough-skinned animals. My bullet drops out the offside while skinning every time.

Deer aren't as tough-skinned and pass throughs are certain.

I should add that my barrel is 21" so higher speeds are attainable with longer barrels.

H4350 is AR2209 and was released in Australia before AR2213 which is also H4831.
We used it in everything including the .300 Winchester where it met every wish list for velocity and bullet weight.

3150fps with the 180's and 3400fps with the 150's in a 24" barrel. Easy.

Have also used H 4350 in the 280Al where it alse shines. 57gn behint the 160's will get 2830fps over my Oehler 35P in a 22" barrel. Have loaded up ti 60 grains using 150 grain bullets for 2960fps snd very good sub MOA accuracy as usual.

Recommend dropping back a couple of grains and working up as usual.

That sounds promising. Thanks.

154g Hornady Sp will penetrate and exit. So will the Hornady 162 BTSP. Both are rated as "elk" bullets which my family has proved time and time again. The 154 will shoot holes thought both shoulders of very large hogs on broadside shots, also.

I suspect that the 150g Accubond will give the penetration of the 154g Hornady sp, but I never saw the need in spending the money on them.

With IMR 7828, R#22, and R#23 the 175g Sierra BTSP is a great bullet where penetration is needed with tremendous shock, while the 175g Partition is legendary. Both of these 175s run in the 2850-2900 fps area in the AI, depending on the powder and brass quality you are running. Lapua 30/06 formed brass is incredible, and this is an understatement.

If you ever see any for sale, the old lead tip Nosler 160g Solid base is a very tough elk bullet.
