I've been a member on this site for a long time, but mostly only ever read and learn going to try to start being more active on here. I'm currently living in west Tennessee in the flat land farm country considering moving back to the east side of Tennessee, and back to mountain hunting

I live in southern middle Tennessee, but I have friends in East Tennessee that come here to deer hunt. We have many more deer here than in the mountains.
(Wayne county)

Yes there is definitely a lot more and a lot bigger deer out here on the west side, but them mountain deer sure are fun to hunt
I've been all over the mountains for five trips now for bear. Don't wanna hunt behind dogs so we try to spot and stalk that some is some tough hunting. We've logged many miles and got woofed at one time but still have yet to see a bear.

A belated welcome!

I'm glad to see you are going to be participating more on the forum. The beauty of east Tennessee is awesome. Tough hunting for sure, but just being out there is rewarding. I'm biased as I have spent considerable time in west, middle and east Tennessee. For quality of game, middle TN is probably the best. For enjoying God's gift of being in beautiful country, east TN mountains is hard to beat.

Welcome from North Carolina.

I have hunted several states over the last BUNCH of years located in the Rocky Mountain range and none are more difficult to traverse than the Appalachian chain. I know they don't have the elevation as the Rockies, but the forest floor is covered with slippery leaves and vegetation making it a "slip and slide" effort. At least in the Rockies, you have….well rocks for footing. Just saying.

I've never been west of the Mississippi River but would love to go out west to hunt
