First ever pre-fit barrel build

So a while back, I decided that I was going to start putting my own rifles together using tikka actions and pre-fit barrels. I bought the barrel vise and the action wrench but never got any further than that. I have a buddy who had bought a fierce rifle and was having problem after problem with it. So he got tired of it and said he wanted to be my guinea pig for the first pre-fit barrel build. I told him that what to buy.

Parts:
Tikka T3x long action magnum
1-3.5 lb trigger spring replacement
Proof pre-fit 24" 1:8 twist in 7 PRC (it's what he wanted)
McMillan game warden stock
Terminator brake
HCA extended magazine

He already had the leupild vx5 4-20 scope and rings.

I got all the parts and literally had it together within an hour. Everything worked out great.




1st three shots with factory hornady precision ammo


Next three shots after cleaning


And then did a 10 shot group and cleaned. 10 shot group was .8" pretty impressive with factory ammo!

My Son has, the Same set up,. Tikka Mag. Action, Proof 24" Carbon Barrel ( He installed / checked H-S ) but with, a Stockey's Carbon Fiber Stock !
Handloaded 7 PRC, w/ 180 gr. ELD-M's ADG Brass and StaBall HD Powder, he put 5 shots into, a .314 Ctr / Ctr., Group !
Yup,. Tikka / Proof,.. the Perfect, Combo ! NICE Work, Korhil ! Gotta be proud of, that One !

I have built many for buds long range hunting rigs up here using proof pre fit and big horn actions and they all shot that way and after the load is found they all will do almost 5 shot one hole groups. nice rig

So what is the approximate cost of that rig not including the tools (in rough numbers)?

I assume you don't need head space gauges with a prefit correct?

Still need to verify headspace even with a prefit.

Now you dunnit! Played with a few once we went on the C-Sabatical.

Gets addicting. Glad the first one worked out wo well.
