6.5 Grendel

I agree with earlier post… shouldn't be that bad on accuracy.
They should replace the factory assembly if it's has that many issues.

Grendel is inherently accurate and 3-4 moa is absolutely not the norm… even with factory ammo.

Rings were torqued to 25"# per manufacturers recs. American Defense recon mount.

May put another scope on and aee it that is issue.
I agree that 5 moa is more than likely the scope. I have a few of those mounts and I've had issues with accuracy if I didn't torque the bottoms tight first, then do the tops. When I did as recommended I stopped having issues. Fingers crossed

I've had good luck with the burris pepr mount. I would for sure try another scope. Those package AR's are a crapshoot sometimes.

First 5 shots out of my 6.5 Grendel. Bear Creek upper. 120 Eld m Tac powder.

I did that as well per their specs. Torqued bottom four to 25"# then level, then top to 25"#.

Just checked the scope mounts. Couldn't move them with my hand pressure. Wouldn't twist. Loosened them up, torqued the bottom to 25 and then did the top ones.

I don't want to be contrary... but I haven't had issues with one piece mounts and have used Aero, Leupold, Burris and American Defense.

Honestly Shane... With your experience with rifles and scopes, You know it's probably not the mount since you double checked that from the get go.

Case head didn't appear to have overpressure. Typical of what I see from most AR types. No super hard ehector print. They did have a bent case mouth, but firgured that is from ejection/hitting deck.
Bent case mouth is probably from ejection. Not to worry about that.
That is common when the case is spun out of the ejector port and case mouth contacts the protruding deflector immediately behind the ejection port on AR's. You can usually see the brass mark on the deflector.

One last question... Where is the spent brass ejecting? This sometimes gives a clue.
4 O'clock is perfect...3 O'clock is good.
1-2 O'clock is over-gassed and bouncing back forward.
Usually nothing will go 5 O'clock because it'll jam/ stovepipe.

3-4 oclock based on what I was seeing. But it was not consistently locking or feeding.
Good.
Perhaps just slightly low enough on pressure to not lock back.
Could still be a slight gas issue.
Could be slightly tight lug to battery...enough to drag a teeny bit.

Are you using an H buffer or standard carbine buffer and spring? This will make a difference on lock back and/or picking up the next round as well.

Either way...Accuracy shouldn't be as bad as you are seeing.
