Classified, What does ( I'll Take It Mean )

I do not use any type of electronic payment. Am I scared, NO. I just prefer to use a check as it gives me a log of the purchase I can look back on for reference, and I get the name and address of the seller. My checks are like gold. They will be good. I no longer send USPS MO for 2 reasons. One they are a pain. Two and most importantly, with the lack of ethics and personnel in the post office, the mail can be lost. A personal check can be canceled easily while a lost MO is a nightmare, ask me how I know.

Now on to the real question. I think "I'll Take it" from an established member is gold. Anything I have for sale will not break me if I have to keep it or lost it tomorrow so I can wait for a check. If someone says they will take it and communication is slow, I will give them an ultimatum on time, butt hat has never happened with members in good standing. I DO request that BEFORE the payment is mailed, the buyer sends me a text picture of the check and the envelope so I can verify all info is correct before it is mailed. I also do the same when I send payment.

Sorry your PM to take the item was ignored. If you had dealt with me on it, it would have been honored.

I can't. I pay by personal check. I also explain I don't have any electronic accounts and ask in the follow up PM if a personal check is acceptable and that I am willing to wait until the check clears before they ship. If it is not acceptable then I would politely explain I wouldn't be buying the item and apologize for taking up their time.
For all the electronic gurus out there, there are ways to cash a check and deposit it in their account using their phone. Checks clear in a few days so it's not like it used to be where it took 2 weeks. I am good for my checks and my feedback should show I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I greatly appreciate the fact people are willing to accept checks for payment although I suppose it would save me a lot of money if they didn't 🤣
I think communication and respect when doing business is a key but seems to be a thing of the past in our society these days. I have been very fortunate to deal with stand up people on this and the other forums I frequent.

So not bank or checking account with account and routing numbers?

So on your checking account you do not have a routing number or account number?

Coming home from deer camp this year. My b-i-l was driving. I asked him what I owed him for landowner gifts and food. He told me. I asked him if he used Venmo. He said yes. I went to look him up and I saw a bunch of accounts with the same or similar name. He handed me his phone. I opened the Venmo app, went to where the QR code was, scanned that on my phone, and sent the money direct to his account. Done deal.

Why go to Walmart as someone mentioned, pay an 8 dollar fee, and do the same thing?

Most checks now days are processed electronically. Not much difference from doing an e-transfer.

I will not deal with websites that deal only in Zelle or Paypal. Those are redflags that it might be a scam. Person to Person however is different.

Buying shirts and hats from my gunclub we do Venmo. Buying brass from the guy that runs that program at the club is Venmo.

We have maybe two bills we still send a paper check to. For some reason our garbage hauler does not do e-payment. I forget the other but they charge a fee for an e-payment.

If you see any websites that only take those Zelle and such RUN AWAY and NEVER look back as 99.99999% chance they are complete scams and you will be burned. Good point you made about that.

Follow on question, who can't make an electronic payment in this day and age? Is it a moral objection or do you have trust issues?
I don't do any kind of e banking! To much opportunity for scammers. Every time the bank wants to set it up my accounts are hacked . No thanks ! Cash or bank money order for me .

I like the idea of taking a picture of the check before mailing. I buy everything with a check on here. Unless FTF. I will offer to do that with my next purchase. Just to give the seller a little more confidence. I have had nothing but positive outcomes on here. Hope to keep it that way.

Possibly your electric company. I have to pay by paper check to my electric company.

I had posted : I'll Take IT " on a classified item on Long Range. I sent a PM' to the seller. He asked me if I could pay by electronic payment. I said I could not. I would send a USPS money order, or personal check. Which ever he preferred. Some time later he sent a PM back to me saying he had sold to some one else thru an electronic payment. That some else never posted a " Ill take it: on the listing. How does this strike you.

It's certainly disappointing, it's pretty disrespectful from both parties, overall…..a **** poor way to do business! memtb

The picture serves 2 purposes. First is confidence. Second to to ensure all is correct with check and mailing address. That way the person receiving the funds is also responsible for ensure all information is correct for delivery and the payment amount is correct.

This ^^^^^^ sums up my opinion of the issue.
