Hunting Scope for 338 RUM

The Vortex Razor HD Gen 3 is a solid piece of kit. I've got one on a 338 Lapua Magnum. Just make sure you use a good set of rings to hold your scope in place. Go with 6 screw ring caps.

I have a custom 338 RUM hunting rifle that I am looking to put a scope on. What would you recommend that would be able to withstand the recoil and also get the most out of this cartridge/rifle setup? Thanks
I have a Vortex Strike Eagle 5 - 25 x 56 on my Remington 700 338 Win Mag. I also use Vortex Pro rings and have had no problems with the combination. Should work well with your 338 RUM.

I tend to agree with Teri Anne. If your ..338 RUM is as heavy as I suspect it is…..recoil shouldn't be that bad.

A relatively lightweight .338 WM jumps a bit also. My used a Leupold vari x III for years before going to a Leupold 3.5-10 CDS…..neither have shown any issues!

I don't think that you have to go to extremes with the scope…..unless you shoot it a tremendous amount, handle it very roughly, money is no object, or carry weight is of no consequence! A less expensive, quality, relatively lightweight scope should serve you well! 😉 memtb

Mine wears a NF NXS 5.5-22x50 NPR1. If I'm going to use my rifles they wear Nightforce optics of any flavor. I can't recommend them strongly enough and still stake my life and reputation on them🇺👍

I agree with others. NF, March or S&B. I opted for the S&B Exos for my 338 RUM.

I'm a NF and March fan.....The March D42HV56WFML-G2[/H2] has my interest on several levels....having shot this scope numerous times it checks a lot of boxes for me. The writable turrets make so much sense for hunting long range and the wide field of view are awesome. I also like the reticle. I get that it's billed as a PRS scope but I think it could be a contender in the hunting market.

I run nightforce nxs 8-32 x 56 on both my 338 rums. Open country and it's really nice having a spotting scope basically attached to my rifle.
As a Hunter Safety Instructor, I have to take exception to the implication that you are using your rifle scope as a spotting scope. This practice is inherently dangerous in that while using the rifle scope as a spotting scope you may be inadvertently pointing a loaded rifle at someone that is not currently visible down range. Please quit doing this. The life you save, might be mine. 😵‍💫
