7MM RUM??

Win staBall HD may be a good choice. It claims the 7rum is ideal for this powder. Haven't tried any yet
I've messed around with 7 rum. I like 7828 with 140 ab. RL25 with 150 partition. And more recently a new load- LRT with 160ab which has better accuracy and higher velocity than retumbo in my rifle. Jesse J posted about LRT in 7 rum which
Is how I learned of it. It can really push a bullet fast if you want to.

I'm a big STW fan, but I also adore my 7mm RUM. This is what I got going on recently, new Bertram brass with 131gr Hammer bullets. Loaded some up with 100.0gr of Retumbo, 0.5" groups running at 3850fps.

That is impressive!
Here Is a question for all you over bore shooters.
What will whare a barrel out quicker, a load like Jake's above ( shorter bullet with less bearing surface at 3850 fps) or a load like mine (longer 180g burger at 3100 fps).

To my understanding, barrel wear is greatly influenced by how hot the barrel gets while shooting and your cleaning regime. Comparing our 2 loads with velocity and bearing surface taken into account, I think, with everything else held constant, they would wear the barrels out at the same rate. However, with proper care, a 7mm rum barrel can last more than 1k rounds with no problem.
